After seeing Batman VR, I decided that after years of slumber, it was time to make a return!

Since I've been back, I've discovered a few things have changed during my absence. Such as how my "Dead" sprees can be seen in the "newest comments" and how the "embed code" replace had gone somewhere that I could only guess is reserved for the "Deadpool."

That said though, I do want to try my luck again here on videosift and see if I can catch up on old times. So fair forewarning to anyone ranked 1-69 (I'm shocked I'm at Rank 70 after all this time), if I start to get bored one of these days, you might get a couple of emails from Siftbot saying how a good chunk of your videos had died.

I like to think that I "Inspired" the "Grim Reaper" badge. But yeah... It is time to see if I can crack Top 50 and get to a rating over 1000!

LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL!

I don't get a notice when thumbnails are fixed, I do get a notice when times are fixed.

Thanks for cleaning up my pqueue. Maybe I'll get some of these sifted now, once I fix the vids!

Thanks!
I happen to be going through your Pqueue, so you might get a few deads in your feed. I ran through Zifnab's Zero Punctuation playlist a few days ago, and had a go at some of ant's videos yesterday.
Your Pqueue isn't as fun, though - most videos have times and thumbnails already.
(Just curious, do you get any sort of notification when someone adds a time or a thumbnail to one of your videos, or is it only when they're marked dead?)

Thanks for the info. And congrats on the 99-level Grim Reaper badge!>> ^jonny:

I meant that the owner/submitter of a vid can use the dupeof command effectively no matter what - if it's killed, discarded, already had dupeof invoked on it, etc. I think that's the case anyway.
Recent Comments is a fun place to browse if you feel like reading more than watching.
[edit] - except when I'm on a dead spree. (I'd love to have a way to filter simple command comments like dead and length from the recent comment stream.)

You had already "dupeofed" it. I could have "isduped" it, but killed it without thinking.
Also, curious: how did you find my comment an another user's profile about yet another user's video? I can't imagine you browse everyone's profile pages. Is there some kind of linkbank thing you followed?
In reply to this comment by jonny:
I think you can use "dupeof" on your own videos at any time, even if it's killed. Worth a shot anyway.

We've Got Badges! (Sift Talk Post)

Sketch says...

Just a thought about the Dead command based Grim Reaper badge:

Granted, I don't have any working knowledge about how things are set up behind the scenes, but it seems as though the * dead command usually gets nullified either because the video never made it to 10 votes, or after someone fixes an embed and uses the * notdead command, more often than a video will actually go into the Dead Pool, even though the video was correctly identified as being dead at the time. Here's a personal example:

http://videosift.com/video/Compulsive-Whoreders-An-Intervention

So it seems as though there needs to be a distinction between whether a video was erroneously declared dead, as with "notdead" and when it was correctly identified as dead so as to give the potential Grim Reaper some credit. Perhaps a * fixed or something that would then allow both the Reaper and the fixer/Necromancer some credit.

If I understand things correctly (and admittedly I may not), as a Silver Star, I can declare things dead, but I can't actually do anything to fix it myself until it does go into the Dead Pool, which it probably won't even do. It's a game balance issue, but if there are going to be gaming elements, which I am whole heartedly in support of, it will need to be balanced.
