@UsesProzac Do you have even a modicum of dignity or self respect? You have promoted yourself as a pianist and you draw mens attention with musical ability. You are prostituting your talent and it is revolting.

Prithee tell me a penance that would ease the burden of my sin?

MOAR BEWBS!!!

The act is obviously inappropriate, but it's how he reacts that gets people confused. By him presenting it as if it's no big deal, the people around him begin to doubt their own moral standards, which in my opinion is pathetic.

Just because the guy acts like it's nothing doesn't change the fact that he sent inappropriate pictures to his employees, and exclusively to women. One of the host makes a comparison between this guy and Anthony Weiner and says he's different because Weiner was trying to have an affair while this guy isn't. Where the fuck did he come up with that bullshit. It's the same exact motive except one guy was ashamed while the other guy is putting on an act as if it's no big deal.

What bothers me most about this segment is that the hosts are deeming the man's action as 'cool' and 'awesome'. How naive can you be? Holy Shit.

The hosts find this amusing and not a real issue. They don't see the fact that this man has just sent naked pictures of himself to his female coworkers. This is such an obvious sexual harassment case that a blind man can point it out for you. He's objectifying women as sexual objects by presenting himself as one, that they need to witness his sexual prowess whether they like it or not.

And TYT is suppose to be a show about pointing out social and political justice... Right. I'm especially disappointed with Ana Kasparian.

Romney's Hypocrisy: "The Dignity of Work"

Porksandwich says...

>> ^notarobot:

I applied for a job outside of my field with decent pay that needed no education beyond high school, but did ask for a little experience, which I did not have. I approached it with the attitude that I had lots of education and even more enthusiasm. I did not hear back from the company. Later, they brought in a hundred workers from the Philippines. There were no domestic hires.

And this reply is to what @Edgeman2112 said as well.

It's yet another logical disconnect in our society. Where they expect you to be able to buy their goods, but they will not employ the people they want to buy them for a myriad of reasons. Some of them might even be legitimate, as in having a lot of education for a job might mean you end up going to something new when it's presented. But the flipside of that argument is that they are hiring un-educated workers simply because they know it's unlikely they will ever have the ability to leave........which is worker exploitation. Not because they are most qualified, but because they are least likely to be able to leave.

And more specifically to edgeman2112, two parents working is fine if both want to work and can make a good wage. Specifically being able to afford childcare or have parents who willing and able to watch their kids. The point is that when one is unable to draw a wage high enough to make it feasible to work and still earn beyond the costs of child care, etc....you are stuck with choices of education costs. And higher education often makes it harder to find work because your education works against you when it comes to getting any job like above...and you are stuck in the "need to know someone" zone to get anywhere in a reasonable time frame. Which likely if you knew someone, you probably would have taken advantage of that relationship if it was going to provide you with a overall beneficial and financially productive job.

There are lots of financially unproductive jobs... like one's that require you to travel longer and longer distances for work...eventually you make less at the job than you would minimum wage flipping burgers if they don't comp your travel or fuel costs to make up for vehicle wear, etc. And this goes back to them picking worker's that are unlikely to be able to hop to another job due to some circumstances, not the best qualified candidates...because they need to be able to exploit them for lucrative contracts that require them to drive nearly as much as they work or rent elsewhere to cut drive times.

Work and employment overall is becoming a dishonest or "cover-your-ass" practice more than just honest employment. "An honest day's work" seems less likely to happen now than 40 years ago. There's just too much bullshit associated with employment now, mostly in office politics and trying to peer beyond the language of your employee contract to decipher how they are going to fuck you in the future. Just look at non-rolling vacation days where they are all too happy to not inform you or suggest you take a vacation day if you need to do something instead of taking an unpaid day........it happens a lot. They use their organization to actively work against you, and use their bureaucracy to make it hard to invoke your rights in the contract.

Personally in my region, I see a lot of businesses and government agencies going out of their way to list their job postings in weird locations or for like 3-5 day windows. The only good reason I can come up for this is that they already know who they want to hire, but they post it publicly to reduce the chance of someone crying foul when they just hire the guy they wanted all along. Keep in mind that if they end up hiring at all, it comes 2-3 months minimum after the listing...especially for government. You'll also notice a lot of fathers and sons, wife and husband, or other nepotism rich hiring practices in these places. Should not be taking place in any business that accepts government money or any government facilities. It's rampant on military bases, and not just for active duty couples which I understand the need for.

Romney's Hypocrisy: "The Dignity of Work"

Edgeman2112 says...

Agreed, with one small change.

It all depends on where you live, but even that's beside the next point I'll make. Families with one stay at home person are, in my opinion, at risk for a very high probability that they will have to continue working until death. No retirement.

The cost of college, owning a home, and miscellaneous bills sap any retirement savings that would be created if both parents work. In this day and age, both parents really need to work to secure a comfortable financial future for their kids and themselves.

>> ^Porksandwich:

Whole lot of logic disconnects throughout society. It's a modern miracle things just don't shut down because the disconnect is so hard to deal with sometimes.
You need a college education to get a job.
You need experience to get an entry level job, college usually does not count as experience.
Virtually no businesses are willing to train.
We have virtually no training or licensing for most jobs they want experience for, college does not even broach this subject.
Then you take all of the above stuff and you see the vast majority of jobs that pay a liveable wage (which is not minimum wage) end up being hires due to who you know instead of what you know. And it's in direct contrast to what we are often taught, recited to, and whatever else throughout school and college. You need an education to get a job, and you need to make the most of it. But we see people who are dumb as a brick get a job because they know someone ALL THE TIME. In fact this "know someone" probably decides what job you end up doing more than your skillset or education.
Then we have working families with both parents working. It's in stark contrast to the history of our species.
The fact that we went from the ability to have one parent able to provide to it being difficult to make it on two salaries means we've fucked up something. Your grandparents could do it, your parents MIGHT have been able to do it...maybe. But the likelihood of someone today able to support a household on one income is low. And your kids being able to once they are adults is probably close to zero, you'll be lucky if they don't have to live with you so you can all survive financially.

Bill to Prevent Employers getting Passwords - Countdown

renatojj says...

@Boise_Lib isn't the employer jumping through a lot more legal hoops than you?

Can anyone else appreciate the irony of wanting people to treat each other with dignity, through force?

It's not that I don't see the role of ideology, I'd just rather focus on something more tangible.

What if you decide to quit your job? Do you even have to explain why? You can just walk out with middle fingers akimbo yelling "FUCK YOU ALL!". Maybe you're a racist sexist who doesn't like working for a black woman. Can the boss sue YOU for wrongful termination? LOL

Bill to Prevent Employers getting Passwords - Countdown

Boise_Lib says...

It's obvious that you have a steady job and/or a lot of money. I'm so very happy for you.

I apply for a job--I jump thru all the hoops, except I refuse to give up my passwords--I don't get the job--how am I to know what their reasons are? If it's because I didn't give up my passwords how would I ever be able to prove it?

No one ever said that employers owe anyone a job--they do however owe everyone a modicum of dignity.

You don't see your argument as idealogical--your ideology has blinded you.

"Doesn't matter how important you consider a job to you or your family's survival, it's never your only possible means to survive." I imagine that someone probably would have said the same thing to Jean Valjean before he stole that loaf of bread.

I'm done responding to you.
>> ^renatojj:

This isn't ideological, it's about defining coercion. If you can prove in court that you were under real economic duress, then you can say there was coercion involved in denying your job because you didn't hand out your passwords.
However, we must be careful not to accept this interpretation that employers owe us jobs. That when they deny us a job, they are taking away something that is rightfully ours.
A job is a voluntary relationship that usually involves a contract. So, by definition, no coercion is involved, because no one is ever forced to hire/accept a job.
The hipocrisy of people who yell coercion, is that they want government to make laws to coerce those that aren't coercing at all. So we end up with a less civilized society overall.
You shouldn't resort to violence to stop something that isn't violent to begin with. How about not panicking, and coming up with non-violent solutions?

Lesson here is to kiss cop ass alt all costs. I always do, even if those costs are my freedom, dignity or human rights. I will gladly submit to the position of circle jerk pivot man if told to do so.
If they pepper spray my mom though, I will get a punch in if it's the last thing I ever do.

With these cops "getting a punch in" might actually be the last thing you do.

This whole situation is retarded, if they suspect the guy is drunk, breath test him. If they feel he was driving dangerously, regardless of alcohol level, arrest him for that. The whole "sobriety test" thing you have in the USA seems like a throwback. I mean, I know it's a dirty word but use some science for fucks sake.

Either way there's no call to taser him and certainly no call to pepper spray his mom.

I've swam through a few of her books, the Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged, and I think her philosophy of Capitalism is Holy could work except for one basic problem:human nature. And her supporters in the GOP really don't get where she was coming from either. The protagonists of these books are people who run large companies struggling to provide their excellent products and services in spite of heavy regulations at the hands of the small minded government. They are personally involved with their companies, willing to go the extra mile and get their hands dirty in the persuit of delivering the goods and providing livings for their extended families of employees they feel responsible for. Yet the government in pettiness and jelousy scheme to thwart them in this:making the Creative Movers of Industry gasp under the strain of mad laws written by parasites to sap the energy of the Doers to feed the gluttony of the lazy masses. More or less this. Unfortunatelythis fairy story is a bit backwards nowadays...
Instead of clever creators marketing their dreams,we have souless corporations dissecting the labours of the many to feed the obscenely rich the lions share of profits, and existing only to figure out new ways of paying themselves incentive bonuses while the companies they run heave and expire beneathe them from the sheer weight of their greed. Emploees are not families to these executives, all cooporating with the mutual goal of seeing the company succeed, but disposable pawns easily replaced and forgotten, not worth providing benefits for and certainly not worth considering when cheap if not competant labour is available elsewhere. And regulations ? Taxes? Blasphemies!

Some of Rand's opinions I find valid:armies of the unambitious would swollow every dime you earn with demands for welfare and other government mandated largesses. For every brave sould with a creative spark there are a dozen happy to make them fall for the perverse pleasure of simply watching a great idea fail. These exist:but a socialism is not on the genda in this future of ours...it seems to be evolving into a new sort of feudalism where the Rich rule and the serfs provide the neccessaries. And I suppose there are entrepreneurs out there fighting the good fight, and fighting it with style and dignity for themselves and their employees.

They just don't make the headlines.
