(Another) video camera on conveyor belt at sushi restaurant.

^If it went around 3 or 4 times, you could have 6 or 7 little mini stories. You know someone is going to do this ...
You could be flexible with the passage of time, as well. Different seasons with each pass, or years later but clearly the same people. I agree someone will exploit this idea.

Indeed. I think it's because of the comfort level of the situation. It's really perfect. People acknowledge the camera but they don't feel threatened by it.

I wonder what it would look like if it was filmed in the US. My guess is people have tried but they never saw their camera again.
My guess is it came back with 5 minutes worth of video of someone's balls.

This is better than most movies I've seen lately.
The kitchen scene is absolutely riveting... Will the camera make it back out? Will they just hand it to the girl, or will they put it back on the conveyor belt? It was a cliff-hanger! The feeling of triumph at the resolution is just astounding.

Sounds like the sushi chef is familiar with YouTube.

I wish I had a sushi restaurant near me with a conveyor belt on it. I wouldn't put my camera on it though.

I don't know what it is because it's mostly boring, but I'm nailed to my seat for every one of these videos. I find them absolutely fascinating. Maybe it's because I wish I could travel there. Or perhaps I'm interested by the reactions of everyday Japanese folks to the camera. Not sure, but I can't take my eyes off it. Scorsese couldn't have done better.

My thoughts exactly, well except for the youdienow part.

America is disgusting. (Blog Entry by MarineGunrock)
Someone needs to start a fast healthy food restaurant that actually has food that tastes good and has complete meals for less than $5.
It's the only way you'll beat the Big Boys. McDonalds, Burger King, etc.
hehe, and make people lineup on conveyor belts moving AWAY from the cash register...
oh, and ban drive-thrus. More exercise, help the enviroment, and cut back on foreign oil all at once!
Time lapse pan in a moving car, at night, city traffic
Very very nice !
With a cleaner mixing, it could be great.
It captures the modern life in a capitalistic (mmm, "occidental-ish" is certainly a more appropriated word) world.
In a certain way, it reminds me this sift : http://www.videosift.com/video/A-camera-travels-around-a-sushi-bar-conveyor-belt
These could make very nice shorts.
Boarding a train that does not need to stop to pick you up
"How this solves teh problem of people bitching about something they have to wait on."
by running many smaller trains more frequently.
Actually Asimov had a similar idea, a series of conveyor belts getting progressively faster from platform to track, you hop across them to get up to speed, then board the train.
The principle is the same, that stopping and starting a huge train full of people who don't want to stop is incredibly inefficient.
Asimov's system was more for travel within a city as opposed to between cities, like an infinite metro conveyor.
Line Rider: Transcendental
@FancyL -
newer versions of Line Rider have lines that can act like conveyor belts, pushing the sled in a particular direction, freeing it from being just a gravity game.

How Chicks (Baby Birds) Hatch In Factories
Kinda stressful way to spend your first few hours, rolling around conveyor belts.
But.... I think there is still a difference between willfully harming someone/thing and killing for food. Then again, who knows what those aliens eat. Maybe we have it coming after all.
Wii Production Line
Man, I thought my job sucked....I guess I could be sitting in front of a conveyor belt all day re-aligning boxes.
