Preview Of The Next Two Years - Pelosi, Schumer, Trump

bobknight33 says...

Trump won this debate.

Dems will loose on this issue. Drugs / human trafficking, need to stop. Dems are putting those who harm Americans first.

Obama administration gave 150 billion to our enemy Iran. Exporter of terrorism. they chant death to America. But the democrats can't give Trump and the US citizens 5 billion for the wall?

Rape charge dropped against USC student after video surfaces

newtboy says...

He had been drinking.
She initiated the contact.
She pulled him along and took him home for sex.
So she raped him.
Where are the angry anti rapists chanting "lock her up, lock her up, lock her up."

It's disgusting the ridiculous double standards we put on issues like this in the name of equality. Outrage at the story that he took a drunk girl home for sex, totally dismissive when it turns out that she actually did what he was accused of.

When the obvious partisan Huber investigation into possible Trump alleged FBI misconduct finds (and fails to hide) FBI misconduct that benefited Trump (something that's undeniable thanks to Comey) will you be chanting "lock him up!"?

I guess the best evidence yet is that the only real charges levied against anyone, the only people actually arrested are from the Trump camp.

There's this: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/two-clinton-employees-arrested-destroying-evidence-uranium-probe-begins/

But, as scopes points out, that story is not actually true.

Keep on beating your drum about how everyone in the Trump camp is so innocent, we'll keep actually arresting them and charging them while you follow the propaganda.

Oh and the EPA admin resigned today amid ethics scandals. I'll look forward to seeing him behind bars while you keep chanting "LOCK HER UP" without anything actually happening to her.

Who is the Executive in charge of the Justice Department again?

The Violent Left EXPOSED!

newtboy says...

So, @bobknight33, I can now show footage of Nazis shouting racist garbage and attribute it to ALL the right, yes? Because that's what this piece you've posted is. Any time you complain about that I'm just going to post a link to this post and negate your right to argue with your own post.

Finding the absolute worst of those calling themselves (or being called) 'far left' and claiming it's representative of the left as a whole. Do you not think any editor could easily create hours and hours of footage like this showing the right acting like inhuman savages, but they could include actual elected officials supporting the calls to violence and dehumanization, and just as easily attribute it all to some particular right wing organization or the right as a whole with some simple juxtaposition? Please.

This right wing trash pretends chants by a crowd or individuals are the same as an organizations platform, even when the organizations immediately and clearly denounce the chants and those shouting them. Isn't this what you complain about with the right being painted as Nazis and racists (although the right usually seems to take much longer to denounce them if ever), yet you go ahead and post the same tactic amplified from the other perspective.

I'm going to assume that, now that you're being called out on it, you'll thank me for pointing that out, and claim it was really a sly attempt to show us lefties how wrong our tactics are. This is not a genuine argument or tactic, as you would never take that stance unless you had already been called on the hypocrisy. Before that 'calling out', you appear to mean every word.

I'm calling you out, bob. This is some disingenuous garbage. You should be ashamed.

EDIT: BTW, Antifa people don't vote democrat. They think the democrats are right wingers, or at best corporate sell outs....just in case it's not feigned confusion.

VICE covers Charlottesville. Excellent

MilkmanDan says...

@Jinx -- Whether in "meatspace" or on the internet, I think the difference is engaging with others vs being in the echo chamber.

A lot of "engaging" with others is going to be negative. Picket line meets picket line has about as much chance of being productive as reading the comments on a controversial YouTube video.

But even if the majority of the "engagement" is that, there are going to be some patient people who connect in a positive enough way to actually enlighten and persuade. Like the former-WBC lady's new husband.

And while that positive engagement seems to have the best shot at redeeming those that can be redeemed, it also might be the best way to show the true colors of those beyond redemption. The skinhead leader guy got maced by counter-protesters twice. That gives him a semi-legitimate provocation to respond in kind or with escalating violence (bloody knuckles, broken bones, whatever). But if he isn't provided with any such provocation and still resorts to violence, people can truly see his "idealogy" for what it is.

Hence Rosa Parks responding to the bus driver in Montgomery:
Driver - "If you don't stand up, I'm going to have to call the police and have you arrested."
Parks - "You may do that."

If I was there in Charlottesville in the heat of the moment, face to face with that kind of hate and bigotry, I'd have been one of the people chanting "fuck off nazis". I'd have cheered when somebody on "my side" maced chief-skinhead in the face, if I hadn't done it myself. ...But I recognize that we could sure use more people that react like Rosa Parks did, and less like I would have.

Democrats Have a Serious Branding Problem

entr0py says...

Every Democratic presidential candidate is already painted by the NRA as determined to take your guns, regardless of what they've said or how they've voted.

Might as well embrace it and at least generate some interest among voters who are in favor of gun control. I'd support a candidate who chants "Grab those guns" at rallies . . . I mean, at least up until they're assassinated.

MilkmanDan said:

"Grab those Guns" would send the NRA into fundraising conniptions and become a rallying cry for the wrong side. I don't have a real good alternative, but "Gun Responsibility Now" might be better.

Mark Steyn - Radical Islam and "the Basket of Deplorables"

RFlagg says...

Au contraire, I'd say the far right is VERY radical. Look how loudly the crowd chanted "let him die" at the one Republican debate, look how they cheer the idea of carpet bombing. Look at the abortion clinic bombing and the bombing of the Olympic Park in Atlanta... all Christian done, in the name of Christ.

Global warming is settled in the science.

Who cares if gay marriage is a sin? You are not sin free, so who are you to judge them for their sin? Who are you to say that their sin is so horrible they don't deserve equal rights under the law when it doesn't harm anyone but themselves?

And I never specified you as a homophobe, and I don't really care about one's fears or anything else, but it is the prejudiced in your (talking the royal your, as in radical right, not you specifically) heart, to judge them as illegitimate and not deserving of being treated the way you would want to be treated, though Christ said to treat them with love and compassion. The Right turns their back on them... As they turn their back on thousands of women and children trying to escape horrible conditions where women are being raped and children being raped and forced into war and radicalization, because radical right Christians hate Muslims so much, they would rather see those women raped, than help them.

I also said you can disagree with them being gay. You can say it is a sin, but to deny them human decency because they sin differently than whatever sins you do, is not a valid reason to be cruel to them. That is when you cross the line, when you say you won't sell them a cake at their wedding for being gay, despite your own sins, when you say they shouldn't be married or adopt kids, despite your own sins... that is when you cross the line.

The Right do want to screw the poor. Half the people who work for Walmart qualify for food stamps, despite the fact Walmart makes enough to pay them all living wages and give them benefits and much more, but they are so pissed at the poor needing food stamps, they want to end that program so they can love on the rich people who own and operate Walmart more... it's a fucked up priority system, when you choose wealth and success over needy and poor. Jesus and the Bible were very clear on what side they were on, and today's radical Right ignore that and have taken on a false Reconstruction message, which has in many radical right circles been further misaligned with the prosperity gospel.

And, I will judge God for His people, when He doesn't speak to your hearts and minds and even puts an iota of human decency and concern, or conviction in your hearts, for the needy the poor, the foreigners who need our aid, for this planet and the its welfare for our future children's sake. I rather God damn me and my children to Hell, then be around the like of Republicans for all eternity, people who would rather see my children die, than have their tax dollars go to help them just because none of the jobs I am capable of getting provide sufficient health insurance.

I have NEVER seen the sort of Love that Christ preached and showed in today's far right Christians... And I speak that as a former far right Christian, and thinking I was showing the love of Christ... but step out side, and see what it looks like to the world. Be in the world but not of it. See what your witness is to a hurt and dying world and see that those on the right are the ones turning people off Christianity. There's a reason that Christianity is loosing ground, because the lack of love from those that are most loudly saying they are Christian, and saying everyone must be Christian or else...

bobknight33 said:

The right is not radical. It is the left that is intolerable.

Global warming debate is not settled.
Gay marriage is a sin,
so is divorce, adultery and a lot of other stuff.

An you call me a homophobe ? really. SIN IS SIN
Each will be judged.

You argument is silly.. If I speak up about being gay I am repressing others.. When Gays demand I am to be silent I am begin repressed. The only difference is that I stand in the right.

The right does not want to screw the poor. We want all to succeed. But the poor stay poor by government policies, mostly created by the Democrats. Poor people are enslaved by these policies, that what what pisses off Republicans.

You would be wise not to cast GOD into the failings of man.. After all that is why he sent his SON.

The crisis in Aleppo, explained

spiffyboy says...

So... someone who knows nothing about the situation in Syria/Aleppo makes a video about it, and proves he is a complete dipshit.
Perhaps he could mention the rebels in Aleppo taking citizens hostage?
Or them shelling escape routes?
Or them mining every exit point?
"Assad bad! Assad Bad!" he might as well chant over and over. I'm sorry, chappy, it aint as simple as that.

And the US having tried everything to solve the situation? How about NEGOTIATION??? Since day 1, they have refused to, and undermined all and every effort to actually discuss the problems in Syria, and instead and repeatedly fuelled the chaos by provided arms, including another 50 tonnes of weapons and ammo dropped this week. Yes, it is more complex than that, but in a nutshell, that's better than this cretan's attempt.
So, a fucking awful attempt to explain the situation.

Your Brain On Ayahuasca: The Hallucinogenic Drug

shagen454 says...

DMT(ayahuasca) are not recreational, no matter which way anyone wants to flip it. The Universe in 5 minutes... an eternal life/death scenario. I was taking ayahuasca to mediate upon my father's death 2 months prior, along with a shaman I respected deeply, I also respect the "traditions" (in that I find the anthropological history incredibly rich) but I realize after "figuring out" DMT on my own that I think my way is best (standard psychedelic procedure, alone) and is the most important thing that I can learn from it. That this is my journey into the soul and I don't need anyone else in my way during my experiences; shamans have a way of influencing the experience, but the experience itself and YOU are the real guide, no need for a shaman with smoked DMT Ayahuasca is definitely an incredible experience and plant... I just prefer my way of visiting "that" realm of infinite knowledge. Tell us how it goes

Some things I did not like about Santo Diame were Christian dogma (with a lot of beliefs taken from many religions), they want you to stay with the circle even though you may be compelled to find somewhere that is quiet and away from everyone else, they separate men from women half circle men, half circle women, guide in between, they do not want talking, but the music is incessant and influences the experience (when the lights go out, be prepared to experience hell on fucking Earth), I couldn't stand the "helpers" at the ceremony I went to, they kept urging people to drink more - there were a lot of aspects that I didn't like about it. But, I certainly wouldn't want to take ayahusca alone, either. Instead, I believe the best way, for me at least, would be one on one with the shaman, in an open place, preferably outside and for him to just chant and check in with me every once in a while.

Also, you can check out the video I made about my smoked DMT breakthrough experience https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuRbLAqM6Kk

John Oliver: Democratic National Convention

Baristan says...

I watched the convention live on YouTube feeds and PBS news. The T.V. news version filtered out most of the chanting and used camera angles to omit the protest signs. In the later days of the convention the DNC made a sheet of chants designed to counter the protesters chants. It worked well. Just watch Leon Pennata's speech to hear the background chants from Sanders states(where there were no microphones) start and be drowned out be the Clinton states where the crowd mics were placed.

The walkout in @notarobot's video was real. Hundreds of Bernie supporters did walkout after the roll call. It was not on the same day as Clinton's speech. Some delegates planed another walkout during Clinton's speech but never went through with it. The Craigslist ads are likely fake.

Alex Jones is a lair. He puts out enough BS to distract from anything real. It is disgusting how he uses his website as 'sources now confirm' while his website is just quoting from his show. It's worse than the propaganda network PBS news has become.
