Ok, I'm from Pittsburgh, and I can tell you that a vast majority of the cops were brought in from elsewhere, as well as a vast majority of the protestors & anarchists were not from Pittsburgh. Yes there were more cops than protestors. Perhaps it was an over-reaction, but it was based on the precedent of events in London and Seattle. Many of those brought in were national guard. I can't speculate on who wears what kind of camo/fatigues - most were dressed in dark gray & black riot gear. From the video (no where near downtown) I would guess that they targeted this particular individual, and just removed him out of the crowd to the police line that was 50 ft away. I couldn't see any plates or lights on the car - most undercover cop cars are easy to spot, so this might have been a civilian vehicle.

Personally I was disappointed that there were so many cops, yet the anarchists got away with breaking so many windows. (this was probably because most of the cops were in the downtown area, and most of damage was in other neighborhoods outside of downtown). What point are they trying to prove? "ooh, I'm 19 years old and being repressed by the evil government, so I'll get back at them by breaking windows of a local business!!" Unless your goal is to provide work for local window replacement companies, it's pointless.

But in the end there were several peaceful protests as well (much larger turnout than you see in these videos), and no major damage or injuries, so it's probably better to err on the side of caution.

The channel 11 news (nbc) interviewed the girl who was on video from the previous night getting arrested for throwing her bike at the riot cops. Now that was entertainment... What did she think was going to happen?

Also, I disliked all the reporters comments about how downtown turned into a ghost town for 2 days - well that's what happens when the secret service quarantines a 16 block area and nearly every road in and out of downtown. All the businesses closed because it's too much hassle for employees and customers to even get there.

Who knows.
They might have been pulling their own operative out and didn't want to break his cover.
They might not have been real military / national guard.
The Youtube consensus, for what it's worth (usually not much), is that it was staged by the protesters themselves. People are finding the camo, boots, service patches, weapons, vehicles, and license plate all difficult to believe.

One of my earliest memories is being in elementary school, and seeing a picture in the newspaper of a soldier in desert camo fighting in Desert Storm, under President Bush.

Then, I turned 18 just after Bush was elected for the first time, and got to watch it happen all over again.

I'm really quite fascinated by how strongly you feel about this swampgirl... really. Videosift, for me, is a place to come and watch good videos, but moreso, is a place to have interesting discussions about said videos. On places like YouTube this is impossible due to the high ratio of complete dicks there.

On Videosift you can't be abusive and hate filled towards each other (at least not too often), and so conversation remains pretty civil. I like that, I want it to remain like that, and really the best way to do that is to ban people who go against this.

The people who are banned are generally not banned JUST for saying bad things anyway, you tend to get temp bans for that if you keep doing it and a "Don't do that again please" approach here, which is great. People like Choggie and BillO get banned because they go too far and start abusing their star powers and hurting other people's experience of the site by arbitrarily voting down or discarding videos/posts.

After watching Choggie's cooking video I went to the youtube account and watched a few more of his videos and realised he is the sort of person I would never want to have anything at all to do with in real life and feel pity for... why? Because he really seems to be the sort of person who feels like he doesn't have the power, wealth or respect he thinks he deserves and so has to show other ways that he is 'better' than other people.

That, and I don't trust anyone who wears camo gear on a regular basis who isn't actually in the armed forces at the time of wearing it.

As others have said, if he wanted to rejoin there's nothing stopping him creating a new account, starting from scratch and playing nicely. I really don't see what possible point there is in letting banned users get their accounts back, they did pretty damn stupid things to get banned, if they want back in that badly they can start again, that's the price you pay for being an enormous dick to people.

It's never a good idea to do any campaigning (or explaining) in CAMO.

That said, Feinstein is one of the bigger turds in the toilet that is Congress and an enemy of the Constitution she swore to uphold.

If I want to be against the troops on one subject I will be, if I want to be for them on another I will be. That is the rights afforded to us in the constitution, however these soldiers have defended that right in WWII, and have not since then in a major war.

Even with Vietnam, Korea, the first Gulf war, there were some good reasons to go, but with all of the modern wars... those reasons die out fast. Because war is incoherently wrong, and so ingrained is us as a people.

Every time I go to the theater I see National Guard, showing a Dale jr, kid rock, and a Nat Guard (not a typical guardsmen but some hand picked Thoroughbred)on the wall.

I’ve got no problem with that, but when they show it with footage of some middle eastern country I have to take it as pushing an inherently wrong view of where liberty is.

Its like the commercials that have our soldiers in desert camo marching with their heads turned with cool shades on like stereotypical Nazi celebration march, with the stars and stripes in the background. I have come to dislike this view of our country very much.

I would like them to show the true side of war, so that the people who don't know the duality of these things can see what a GSW really looks like.

Other countries have a right to liberty, but its not our Liberty that we are fighting for in Iraq. Our liberty is fought for inside the beltway, and in courts all over the country, and even in the territories of the united states (Puerto Rico).

A high powered rifle like a .30-30 or a .30 '06 will give a MUCH greater chance at a clean quick kill than a spear or a bow.

Seriously though, I love animals and personally I think it's sick to take pleasure from taking the life of one. But I'm no hypocrite either. I eat beef, chicken, pork and seafood all the time.

There is such a thing as ethical hunting. This video is not an example of that.
