I'm Saving up for an Autonomous Car (Wheels Talk Post)

Future Breaking News: Iran hacked US Auto-automobiles... ?

I think the 2-5 person transport vehicle is bullshit and must be developed into an alternative transport system with focus on sustainability. Maybe this is the step in the right direction, maybe it's just a way to sell cars to everybody, including drunk drivers, drug addicts, psychopaths and children.

News from the Internet -- FTW

Agreed, mainstream TV news is so disconnected from the real issues. I think back to my childhood, I remember my grandparents thought of the evening 6 o'clock news being the most important half hour of the day. Being spoon fed a variety of fear mongering stories by a model with a serious face and smooth voice the following:

Catchy musical intro...
Rape...
Tsunami expected....
Another rape...
Rugby player caught urinating in public...
Serious issue of the day...
Some breaking news about new bank fees...

ads...

A murder conviction for a famous person's ex-lover..
Corruption in the animal petting zoo society..
Some more rape, and a stabbing in broad daylight...
Stocks are up in Asia, but the FTSE index is down...
Some sports team won something...
It's raining... (thank GOD I watched the news to find that out, instead of looking outside!)

Thank god for the internet.

Operation Fox Hunt - Anonymous vs Fox news

volumptuous says...

And MSNBC isn't on it knees slurping OBAMA juice? Give me a break.

No, they are not.

Maybe they're not frothing at the mouth to regurgitate any half-baked horseshit conspiracy BREAKING NEWS story about muffins or cigarettes or secret UN camps like FNC, but MSNBC has close to as many negative stories about Obama as Fox does.

You probably won't read any of these statistics, since the little "liberal media" fantasy world you've created will crumble around your feet, but here you go:

(this is a study from August 2010, but it's no diff today, and maybe worse)

• During the past 90 days, MSNBC has run a total of 1,193 stories about Obama with only 44% being positive while 55% were negative towards the President. The positive to negative ratio is -11%

• In the past 90 days, FoxNews has run 2,064 stories about President Obama, 46% were overall positive and 53% overall negative. The ratio of Positive to Negative stories is -7%

Also, how the fuck does Anon expect to "shut down" Fox? I don't get it

Their comeuppance should be delivered by ... the power of free, informed markets.

Yeah, you let me know if you ever find any free and informed markets.
Fox is nothing but the proganda wing of the republican party preying on week minds. Take them down.

OWS 'Wayward Mom' reacts angrily to NY Post article

Corporate media, and their well paid "reporters" should be shot.

Mother away from her kids for more than five minutes, and probably shacking up with fellow protestors! Shame shame, everybody knows your name!
Meanwhile the wealthy hire people to look after their kids, and who knows how much time they actually spend with them.

You're too kind. I just can't get over how they've zeroed in on this one person and gotten super petty about it. And as Olbermann mentions in another video, the usual right wing suspects are trying a number of discrediting tactics, all lame of course.

Hillary Clinton reacts to news of Gaddafi's capture - WOW!

grinter says...

>> ^Sagemind:

Ya, I saw this on CNN - More like Hillary Clinton doesn't react to news of Gaddafi's capture.
Hard up for news stories I think they are, Hmmm?...

Hard up for news? Maybe.. but I also think this is an interesting glimpse into the life/work of a high level politician. We hear breaking news from CNN or Al Jazeera. HClint gets a text from the CIA. We see the news as a a curiosity, not terribly relevant to our daily lives. HClint has to decide how the US Government is going to react, and whether to proceed with her interview, or photo shoot, or whatever she was doing. ..reminds me of BushBaby deciding to continue reading a story to school children when he learned of the 9/11 attacks.

I Am Not Moving - Occupy Wall Street

@NetRunner I agree that Republican obstructionism is not good, but if Dem's had the significant majority in both the house and senate would it make a big difference? I think in the past it might have, when the corporate influence in politics wasn't so great, these days... I think it's a very hard argument to make, especially considering the fact they didn't do anything significant when they did have the numbers after the last election. Besides, by saying the GOP made nice comments about Arab Spring then bad comments about these protests, aren't you highlighting their hypocrisy? So what's the big deal about highlighting hypocrisy when it comes from the other side?
@bcglorf Your 'protesters' were mercenaries paid for with oil profits, as I already mentioned (and verified with links) in our last discussion, it seems you do not learn. You also cannot decide what others can and cannot think, as you seem to suggest is possible. Part of the official mission statement of the OWS protesters is the recognition that America has "perpetuated colonialism at home and abroad". I would say that hiring merceneries to secure oil supplies and then installing a friendly dictatorship to ensure trade agreements is pretty damn close to colonialism. The most sickening irony of your statement is that, unlike your fairyland mass graves that don't exist (see below), the rebels actually have been killing government supporters and burying them in mass graves.
Your mass graves

The real mass graves
http://news.smh.com.au/breaking-news-world
/about-900-bodies-in-libya-mass-graves-20111006-1lbth.html
By all means, continue to spread propaganda like your life depends on it, you're completely transparent.

So your view on Libya is that Gaddafi didn't leave behind any mass graves, was not on the verge of prosecuting a genocide that he had publicly announced his intentions for, AND there are actual mass graves in Libya but only those dug by the rebels opposing Gaddafi?

So you support Gaddafi then. History won't remember your side well.
