It may vary from region to region, but I'm not talking anything drastic.
I believe the one explained to me was like one of those old tests we've all taken in gym.
Stand on one side, run over, touch the line, run back, run to touch the next line, run back, etc.
and the difference is it has to be done in like 2 minutes for a 20 year old, and 2:15-2:30 for someone 35+. It's not a huge difference.

Sheppard, with the budget crisis it is getting far worse. For example--the unions are under assault, and yet the Republicans need even more money to give out to their special interests (I mean, lower taxes.)

So where are they going to find it? Easy. Just kick out the highest paid, and as an added bonus, claim it is all in the public's best interest...

Requirements recently implemented nearby--A basic boot-camp-style 2 week period before joining. Second, run between cones, jump a window, scale a wall (I don't know how tall but I guess 4-5 feet, since it has to be "fair" to small built women,) grab a 180 pound dummy and drag it, grab some more shit, keep running, then get to the end and state a number of colors (Not sure how many there...) The time limit they say is 5 minutes or so.

Expect to see that cost-saving measure spread.

So, why do they call Chicago 'The Windy City'?

I have rather "fond" memories of walking at a 45deg angle attempting to get to the mailbox down the street on my way to school after boot camp in Great Lakes. I have firmly resolved to never go near the place again.

Everytime one of you validate me as a real person I grow that much more powerful. My whole existence is determined by your belief - Like Captain Planet, without any in-the-closet Indian kids.

And I was at Marine Corps boot camp. 'Twas sucky. Now I must leave for Marine Combat Training. 'Twill sucky some more.

Wow! Blast from the past blows my mind! Welcome back, mate.

I was asking sockpuppet-wise, but I've grown to accept you as a person in your own right.

Where have you been all this time?

You mean like, literally or are you asking in a more existentialist manner?

Girl Gets Answer Very Wrong

daxgaz says...

and now a story-

When I was in boot camp there were 2 guys named Smith. One of African heritage, the other of European. So, since people in boot were busy enough, they did not bother to learn the Smiths first names and they just called the "black smith" (which is also funny in another way, but that seemed lost on the group) and "white smith". This offended some of the guys and to show their offense they decided it was necessary to prefix everyone's name with their skin tone. Since their were many of us and we were from many different back grounds, it turned out their were a myriad of colors to go around. I was Olive Grey Gaz, my best friend in the group was dirty tan Ghazal, another was chalk white Stubbs, and yet another was pinkish Sheer. I thought it was quite illuminating to hear each and every persons EXACT skin tone (as is it was interpreted by a bunch of young guys) attached to them as a label. To me, it really pin pointed how stupid the whole color thing is. Nearly everyone is a different color and it really does not matter what that color is.

I've put this game back on the shelf for six months, so many bugs encountered in the early stages of the game (AI killing spree in boot camp! lol)
Maybe a few more months of patches and I'll go back to it.

6 months?! It hasn't even been out for more than two, and that's including the early AU release. WTF are you even talking about?

Also, initially I was excited about this game, but after reading early reviews, that excitement turned to "meh."

If you liked this, I also recommend looking into "Ears. Open. Eyes. Click." .. a 2005 indie doc on Marine boot camp by a canadian film maker.

I just recently learned that HBO might be doing a series with all of the unused footage, in 45 min episodes, so its a good time to be into this.

Someone may have a google link to that EOEC doc on google, you may just have to ask said person... but it is available for purchase as well.

Heh heh. I'd kill for your scores right about now. They didn't even have me do pull-ups, because I had spent the prior day in the recruitment office doing peck flies all day long. That's because I couldn't even do one. My arms were/are just dead. After that, I did a whopping 41 crunches. And I don't even wanna share my 1.5 mile time. I'll say this - I was third last.

In reply to this comment by MarineGunrock:
Don't worry about it. My IST was something like, 5 pull-ups, 74 crunches and a barely passing three mile run. After boot camp, though, those numbers shot way up. As long as you can pass the IST, you'll be fine.

And yeah, you should go intel. Any MOS in intel would be good. HUGE bonuses and shit, ya know? Just remember that you don't get to pick an MOS, you can only pick the field.(You can't pick 0231, but you can get 02xx, you follow?)

And let me give you a solid piece of advice. Boot Camp is easy. All you have to do is exactly what you're told to do. Simple, No?

I was intrigued by Intelligence Specialist. The basics of the research and analysis are reminiscent of the work I used to do in high school forensics.

That is, if I can ever get to boot. Just now got back from an IST. My recruiter's disappointed. Let's just say I did pretty fucking pathetic.

In reply to this comment by MarineGunrock:
Oh yeah? What MOS are you shootin for?
