Space Suit Test Failure - Man Exposed to Total Vacuum

MaxWilder says...

You're not taking into account atmospheric pressure of approximately 14.7 psi (at sea level). Without that pressure pushing against the skin, it would naturally expand somewhat (being elastic) and your blood pressure would drop. Your own link shows that one of the top concerns is ebullism, the formation of bubbles in body fluids due to reduced ambient pressure. That means low blood pressure.

I dig it-More for the mash with the video content rather than the piece as a stand-alone groove. Never did get too far down he ambient-trance tunnel, probably because by the time I was able to do MDMA it was the shit that passes for the good stuff. You can't get good shit very easily anymore and the popularity of the genre that goes well with MDMA, kinna dropped out when the drug became a bathroom concoction of crap. Don;t have any use for salvia,or some of the more available drugs that kids today are experimenting with....I'm a purist

Another incredible tool in Photoshop CS5: Edge Detection

Croccydile says...

Interesting solution, although movie studios have been dealing with this problem for an incredibly long time with chroma keying. It seems to be a combination of edge detection with keying... although he did not demonstrate it with a more complicated background. At least with professional video software its gotten to the point to where you just take a dropper and say "This is the background key color" and it magically removes the green/blue and with refinement you get rid of the ambient tint.

Granted I still see movies today where I notice poor keying where an actors hair still has tints of the key color in or behind it... so its still a difficult problem regardless.

I think its more a product of the lack of any atmosphere that high up...the tiniest of forces in usual ambient pressures wouldnt really do much, as friction would overcome the impulse to move with the force.

Without the atmosphere though, the effect of the minute forces are soooo much greater.

Think how they turn a spaceship that weights hundreds of tons....tiny puffs of air.

As far as tech, the only really big difference vs. DirectX 9 I noticed were Crepuscular rays and a bit better detail. The ambient occlusion was not really that standout, perhaps not the best demo for it in sunlight like that?

You missed the very important tessellation that's only in DX11 that gets used a lot in this demo. You can see what it does here:

It's pretty, but also realize the perils of PC graphics where it might be a while till you get this in your average game. Three years later after DirectX 10 and you still have AAA name titles being released in DirectX 9. When DirectX 10 was new the cards that supported the features were noticeably slower in DX10 stuff. Now, cards have caught up so I imagine the same cycle will happen again for DX11. The number of DX11 titles currently available can literally be counted on one hand and few people have the necessary hardware (ATI Radeon HD 5xxx series)

Well in each case the videos are made up of short clips that each display a build-up to a resolution of action, over and over. Also the things that happen are prosaic and slightly tranquilizing to watch. Plus there's no sound besides the ambient noises; it's almost like there's nobody there.

QFT. Nice deduction.

Don't ask me why, but I got the same feeling I get when I watch any of the Maru cat videos. And sure enough, at the end, it was Japanese. Now that makes me wonder what qualities of both videos are distinctly Japanese. Points to ponder...
