Coolios acoustic jam with Students

dannym3141 says...

I go to this uni. It's pretty hard to convince yourself that it's ok to "get into" gangster's paradise when you're very very aware that you're sat with a hugely famous rapper in a squalid little room of a miserable little town and would know nothing of the life you're trying to sing about

Think how self conscious you'd feel!

Pretty awesome. Shame that it took the kids until the end of the song to get into it.

Batfleck

chingalera says...

I've always considered his acting uni-dimensional and strained. He has very little depth and is most convincing in a role in which he portrays a desperate douche, which are the only roles he takes or is offered so, the Batman franchise is perfect for him....They should cast his wife Jennifer Garner innit as Elecktra and let Marvel once again, kick DC's ass.

How NOT to Pull Your Truck Out of the Ice

MilkmanDan says...

Cold would make a steel frame contract (a little) and make it more brittle / less malleable. But, it'd have to be *extremely* cold (like, liquid Nitrogen cold or beyond) to make it so brittle that it would be more likely to break before bending.

As a result of being merely natural environment cold (in liquid water so not less than 0 C) it probably was a bit more brittle (and therefore harder / less malleable) than the same metal would have been at higher temperatures. Maybe it took a measurable percentage more force to bend in those conditions -- but clearly not enough to prevent it from folding like a paperclip given the massive force on it.

Possible that I'm off on some or all of that, been a long time since Engineering Physics at Uni.

Shouldn't the cold make the metal contract and therefore less maleable as opposed to bend like a sheet? (genuine question)

PSY Reacts to Being Called "Herpes" by Billie Joe Armstrong

Lamanite says...

Psy went to Uni in the United States, his English I suspect is much better than he makes it out to be. I'm far from a fan but well played calling 'em "Green Days"...

John Howard on Gun Control

Kofi says...

Apparently Howard was not happy about this and felt that Oliver was disrespectful. Do your research Howard!

Also, I went on the march against the gun ban when it was introduced. The laws in my state of Victoria were largely in line with the reforms but there were several new ones that were and are inconsistent. For instance, you can not have a pump action shot-gun but you can have a pump action centre-fire rifle. Admitedly I was only 17 at the time and mostly went to take photos for my uni degree. However, the laws became nationwide and bought Tasmania, the place where the massacre that prompted the ban, in to line with what the rest of the nation deemed acceptable. While I don't think there is a 100% correlation between the ban and the lack of subsequent massacres the gun laws were sensible and could easily be adopted anywhere else in the world where rationality prevails over dogmatism.

Garbage & Screaming Females - Because The Night

Always loved this tune-Rockin'-ass version! That guitar solo sounding so fat if I ain't mistaken is brought to you by a uni-vibe-or Unicord...(Digitech Expression pedal has it, fat sound!)

This is an awesome rendition. I want to hear this live. Well done and the guitar at the end is awesome.

After Earth Trailer #2

chingalera says...

It's Will Smith and son, Fletch.....Daddys' grooming his no-actin' son to take over the Smith legacy for future generations of popcorn-slammin' entertainment junkies.

He looks to be shaping-up in the fine tradition of the Will Smith, uni-dimensional school of acting.

If Keneau Reeves were black (and had a personality), he might still be making movies, too!

Why Celebrity Apprentice Sucks Away Your Willpower

cluhlenbrauck says...

ego depletion ?
Well perhaps after day 1 they just get comfortable with each other. Maybe even annoyed, Stress and Pressure. I've worked in groups for getting projects done and it sorta is the same routine.
All nice / high hopes -> laziness, bitter, and stress as the deadline gets near.
(granted I'm just a uni grad)

some people are just not leaders / no work ethic.

How It Should Have Ended: LOOPER

Fletch says...

In the multiverse theory of reality, anything that can happen, happens on some plane of the brane (not precisely the theory, but it rhymes). Time travel simply places you in one of those possible timelines where history is such that your presence cannot create a paradox. All those disappearing people and body parts couldn't/wouldn't happen. The film takes a more determinist and uni-universe slant, I guess.

Still a fun movie. I don't have a problem with science fiction movies taking creative liberties with the science.

Onboard - Unbelievable road rage attack

dannym3141 says...

I never understand the argument "if x person had a gun, it would have stopped the whole thing before it started."

In this example, the lunatic had a car and the victim had a car - so they have approximately equal "weaponry". The lunatic clearly used his weapon with utter disregard for anyone's safety and without warning. I'd like to know why people think that raising the weaponry stakes would change anything. Let's rewind the whole situation and without any hindsight give both of them a gun. Now the victim would be dead because he had no idea of the danger he was in until it happened, and if a gun was involved then that would have happened and been over very fast.

I have been accosted in my car about 4 times now (i travel to uni, it's an occupational hazard) after having to brake hard from someone's poor driving (for example). In that situation i am the one who is entitled to be aggrieved, if i had a gun then of course i wouldn't use it - because i am not going to shoot someone for driving like that and rightly so because i'd go to jail.

So the mad person is always going to shoot first, and he's always going to have the initiative of knowing what's going on and what he needs to do.

Why is escalation EVER a solution? We don't say it about nuclear warheads? Surely if everyone had a nuclear warhead we'd all be a lot safer. It might seem ridiculous to say that but why do people think it's good to upgrade the madman's potential weapon from a car to a gun!?
