Obama on Palin's Rating of his Presidency

videosiftbannedme says...

>> ^TangledThorns:
Obama better wise up as his actual approval polls are hitting below 50% while Sarah Palin's are rising. The way this fool is running the country into the ground I expect a President Sarah Palin to save us from his huge mistakes.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this site is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Pointing out how ridiculous christian religion can be. I'd much rather die for a perverted sex fantasy like a bunch of virgins. Or prove that my goD is merciful and powerful by protecting his holy land with bombs and guns. It's all so silly that I'm going to sign up for scientology; a religion that is proven by science and makes sense.

I'd just like to say i installed this just now and searched for "pink floyd - comfortably numb" and various alternatives.
This program failed the litmus test. That's a pretty staple song really, by a huge band. It only had covers and versions done by individual members of the band and no original full-band version.
That's a pet peeve for me - any search return that doesn't have the original right at the top is an absolute shambles and an insult, if you ask me. Scissor sister's terrible cover version smiling at me from the top and no original.
So i did another search for "pink floyd" and got absolutely nothing. No music by pink floyd. Lots of covers though!!!!!!!!
Uninstalled

Blame Pink Floyd's record company, not the program itself.

*edit* added the mac link for you mac users (god have mercy on your souls you blasphemers)

David Attenborough on God

burdturgler says...

Yes he is explaining that no ("Christian") God would ever allow such suffering as an eye eating worm. That should be clear to anyone who watched the video. He says in no uncertain terms that no Christian God who loved his people would allow a creature to be created purely to torment His people. That is exactly what he is saying and it is in every way wrong. Both in his assumptions about the creature created and in his expectations that man should not suffer due to God's mercy. In other words he is using the existence of a parasite that feeds on eyes to dismiss the existence of God which is pretty shitty logic as far as I'm concerned.

Hey Virg, "Wall Street" didn't sell more cars than Detroit, Japan did; WITHOUT unions and lo, their workers still make a good wage.

Sad, and somewhat shocking. I knew his cancer had come back, but it seems like just a couple weeks ago I was yelling at him on my TV.

Whatever else I might say about him, he really did seem to genuinely enjoy what he did, and unlike so many other media-spin professionals, he seemed to be a true believer in the cause he was spinning for.

I hope God has mercy on his soul...just maybe not right away, if you catch my drift.

"I think the underlying problem is that faith is seen as a virtue."

I disagree - the underlying problem is that blind faith is seen as a virtue. Not all faith is blind and irrational. Although you will probably disagree I personally think that my faith puts no constraints on my rationality. Furthermore empirical evidence can reinforce faith just as easily as it undermines it.

I agree with you about the Old Testament. I always found sections of it particularly harsh - for example, the Book of Job. But in the Qur'an I am taught that God is merciful, forgiving and kind towards sinners. God is described as merciful more than 500 times in the Qur'an, and each Sura of the Qur'an begins with: In the name of Allah the Compassionate, the Merciful.

The message of the Qur'an is that God is far more inclined to forgive than to condemn. Unfortunately, many Muslims seem to forget this. They also seem to forget that it is God - not man - who judges the deeds of a man/woman and rewards/punishes them accordingly.
