CANADA vs USA - One on one soldier Tug of War

MonkeySpank says...

You can buy the DLC from EA for $10.99; it has 3 new camo uniforms and shitty weapons no one cares about.

>> ^Tokoki:

We STILL only have those bright green uniforms? You'd think that after nearly 10 years of desert warfare...we'd be providing proper uniforms to our troops...

Here's my problem with modern game developers, back in the day if I wasn't sure whether or not I wanted to drop $40 or $50 bucks on a game I had only read hype about and never played. I just went online or bought a copy of PC Gamer and got the demo disc or downloaded a demo of the game, problem solved if I like the demo enough to finish it and want more I would go out and buy the full game. Then devs started whining that demo's cost too much money to produce which is total BS and they stopped doing game demos almost all together, that when I said f*ck it I'll just pirate my full version demo and and if I really like the game I might buy it for the DLC or the multiplayer like Battlefield 3 where you can't play the online portions on the the pirated versions.

Take the hint devs release demo's of your games so people don't feel like they wasted a good chuck of their hard earned cash of a piece of sh*t game like Duke Nukem Foerver. Let the games speak for themselves if your game is really worth paying $80 bucks like ME3 than people will realize that from the demo. Valve has the right idea piracy is completely a service problem not some delinquents idea of sticking it to the man. People just want to know that they are getting their money's worth, why do you think movies have trailers. I miss the old days of Doom when you got the entire first episode free and then if you liked it you paid for the other two. Quit blaming piracy on the little guy when Big Games are just trying to milk every last horse armor dollar out of their fan base. And for god sakes quit releasing games chock full of bugs and then 6 months down the line fix them to the point the game should have been in the first place like Skyrim, I'm glad I waited till recently to buy that game or the UI bugs would have made me chuck it through the first available window.

Sorry I'm ranting I'll shut up now but for god sakes devs think about your fan base we pay your freakin salaries after all!!!!!

This guy's Francis character is hilarious. He is the epitome of the raging nerd. He recently did one video parodying the brouhaha nerds were whinging about with the Mass Effect 3 DLC. Oh, he also did that "Friday" parody: "Tuesday (Is Raid Night)"

SimCity(2013) Announce Trailer

They've only just announced the game, for crying out loud. Why would there be a gameplay trailer this early?

I agree. Sick of this whining about pre-rendering, EA, DLC, etc.

There is a dearth of fun yet deep strategy games on the market. I am absolutely thrilled to hear about this game. I don't care that they told us about the game before they want to show us gameplay footage.

I think the pre-rendered footage is actually valuable to get an insight about the design goals. More so than pre-rendered footage for an FPS type game.

Mass Effect 3 Offical Launch Trailer

Yeah, I want to meet the guy who decided that the Mako needed to go and replace it with planet scanning....and then punch him in the throat.

I just think that if you know you're making a trilogy and your first game is a hit. You really shouldn't mess with it a whole lot. Sure, update the graphics and fix and polish things and definitely certain things should be expanded on. the XBox version of ME1 had that shitty inventory which they fixed in the PC version. And sure the shooter side of ME1 definitely needed some corrections as the Pinnacle Station DLC definitely highlighted the weaknesses of the shooter side of ME1

I just don't think you should totally re-invent the game and the core mechanics.

It makes me wonder though if they're going to pull a halo and go back and remaster ME1 and somehow make ME1 more in line with the gameplay of ME2 and 3. Hrm.

It's going to be interesting to see how the game feels if you actually play all three back to back.

PS. The heat sink clip system still infuriates me.

Mass Effect 3: Take Earth Back - Cinematic Trailer

If a living Prothean isn't "HIGHLY significant" to the story, then someone dropped the ball. The direction Bioware has been going in quality recently is a factor. Dragon Age 2 was a half-hearted sequel that had a "B-Team" quality to it. The Old Republic is just as disappointing as the movie prequels. So yes, this blatant money grab has absolutely compounded my lack of faith in ME3 being a good game.

As for Origin, EA lost my trust in providing a good service back with EA Downloader and its limited time to download. Let's not forget their several online game servers that it has shut-off.>> ^CrushBug:

>> ^HugeJerk:
However, ME3 is looking like it will be a total let down. Requiring their online service for the PC version, tacking DLC onto everything remotely associated with the series (Figurines and Art Books), as well as having day-one DLC that costs $10 and unlocks a character that should be HIGHLY significant to the storyline. If the demo for ME3 is any indication, they've dropped the ball on bothering to animate facial expressions as well.

There is a lot of misinformation around these items. Much like Steam, the Origin service can be run in offline mode, so you don't need to be online to play, except for the initial game activation, just like ME2, so not much has changed there.
The DLC thing has been confusing. Those physical goods do not include main game, singleplayer DLC. What is included is a multiplayer-only unlock. A little bit of free microcontent as a "reward" for buying and registering your ME3 physical statue and such. None of these items are for main game. The $870 comment is an overstatement and misleading.
We have had DLC available on the first day for our past 3 games. You are assuming that it is "HIGHLY significant", but you can play and complete the game with or without it, much like Kasumi from ME2. The only decision you have to make, is it worth your $10. If you don't think so, then don't purchase it. Wait for some reviews or talk to trusted friends that have it and get their opinion. Don't let the Omnidirectional Internet Rage Machine guide you .
And regardless of the above, what it comes down to is the story. If you enjoyed the story in Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2, then Mass Effect 3 is going to blow your mind. It is simply the finest story-based game we have released. If you are invested in your Mass Effect characters and companions like I am (~255 hour played in ME2 over 8 playthroughs) then everything is there for you. All those stories and conflicts across the galaxy from the past 2 games all come to a head while your are dealing with the Reaper invasion. Half-way through the game, I was an emotional wreck. So much had happened. I was so thrilled to go off and do a side quest of pure combat, just to blow off some steam.
If you are unsure about the game, try the demo or wait for the reviews. If you like the Mass Effect world and games, then this is the game you have been waiting for.

ME2 was great... if you exclude the resource scanning and the silly final boss. ME1 is easily top 5 games of all time for me because of its solid story, gameplay, and having Lance Henrickson.

7 Stages of Skyrim Addiction

Vanilla graphics in the game rather suck (now we know what it's only a 5.9 gig game). Thankfully there are half a dozen mods out there that make your mind blow with delicious graphics lol.

As to the game, I'm still not done with it. My main guy is 35 and I still feel like I haven't really scratched the surface. With the Creation Kit hitting this month and DLC most certainly on it's way, there are many many hours of enjoyment to be had with Skyrim.

*sigh*

Portal 2 was alright, but it wasn't THAT great. Kind of limited replayability. I played the single player campaign, then I played a couple of runs through with some guy in multiplayer. Haven't opened it up again in months. Kind of disappointing. I was waiting for DLC for it or something, but it's just not got that appeal that keeps your attention like Skyrim or Battlefield 3.

I've heard they cut an entire town out to put in later as DLC (Bethesda just loves to do this!). That would explain the whole weird ending.

I'd recommend the game. Runs great on even older hardware. If you have the newer hardware the graphics are simply stunning and the gunplay is top of the line for shooters. It's rather scripted but fuck if I care. At least it's not yet another 4 hour military shooter lol.

I wouldn't have a problem with the "push a button" ending if there were choices you had to make early on which affected the end. In the original, there were a fair amount of choices mid-game which would prevent you from experiencing parts of the plot. You had to save and go back and play the game with different choices to experience everything. This game does not have that depth of replayability.

Also yes, agreed, all of the boss fights and the hallucinatory zombie thing were pretty lame.

Other than that, the actual gameplay was extremely reminiscent of the original and I had a great time playing it. Unfortunately they've already announced DLC which fills in a part of the plot where they sort of fast forwarded the story in the base game. DLC is lame when it's clearly planned out and worked on ahead of time.

I'm enjoying it as well, but I think it's hardly unfair to say they made compromises from the original to appeal to today's mass market audiences.>> ^sillma:
I'm a pretty huge DX1 fan, and DXHR didn't disappoint me at all. Pretty awesome game all in all, you can easily leave yourself with a negative image of a game if you listen to all the biggest whiners of the internet.

Aye aye, but that's how it goes nowadays unfortunately. Much better game than I expected it to be, nowadays I have very low expectations on games that claim to claim any former glory, since they usually fail miserably. Only thing I was disappointed was the size of the world, the cities could've been larger with more side quests, but ah well it was properly long game anyhow. Gotta do the next playthrough with non-lethal approach
