Hermeneutic proof that arguing on social media is a waste of time:
"Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds. The mediocre mind is incapable of understanding the man who refuses to bow blindly to conventional prejudices and chooses instead to express his opinions courageously and honestly." -- Albert Einstein.
So much arrogant ignorance is floating around on the Internet that often I simply can't bear it. People send me links and wonder what I think about them, and I find the comments that these links have attracted are so painfully stupid that I simply can't bear to say anything.
It would be one thing if people were simply wrong, because surely each of us is often wrong about many things. But when people are not only wrong, but so dismissive of those who know a thousand times more than they do, one realizes that such people are simply ineducable: they don't know how to assess evidence or argument; they don't know what real scholarship consists of; and they don't know who the real scholars are; yet they do not hesitate for even an instant before insulting and ridiculing scholars whose shoes they are unfit to tie, often people who have spent decades immersing themselves in the study of a particular subject.
Some people view the Internet as a sort of breakthrough in the worldwide transmission of knowledge. When I sign on, I am more likely to find it a sort of global disaster by its manifest capacity for the transmission of an effectively unlimited amount of disinformation and sheer juvenile bullshit. If only proud ignorance and sophomoric arrogance could be transformed into food, the world's hunger problem could be solved at once.

you do realize that anarchism is incredibly diverse right?
it is not some rigid dogmatic approach to structural societies.
the political philosophy can stem from a strict individualism to a pure collectivism, yet both can be an anarchist philosophy.
i will post some lectures that can clarify our discussion much more competently than i ever could.
because it seems we are getting snagged on definitions.
i use the classic definitions and you retort with the "americanized" and no matter how many words we type to each other...if we are not on the same page in regards to the most basic of agreements, "definitions", then we will always be in the weird loop-d-loop of circular reasoning.
we will probably still disagree but at least we will understand each other better.
i think we agree more than disagree.
we just derive our positions through different sources of information.
or maybe we just disseminate it differently.
it appears we get caught up on the finer details.
which is where the real meat and potatoes..and fun..resides.
libertarian socialist is not really in conflict.
if you use the term classically.
anarcho-syndicist works as well.
and a lot of what you suggest is anarcho-syndacism.
what we are really discussing is federal powers.
and im actually on your side but i always struggle to find the right words when discussing these matters.
always have really.
ah well.
and i wasnt picking a fight with you my man.i dont converse with you on that level, not purposely anyways.
the fact you take the time to try to make your points clearer reflect a genuine character.
so i meant no disrespect.
Thanks! My eyes clearly crossed!
