I've been good. I've identified a few more of the crazies on videosift to ill effect, but other than that I'm in a good place. I got my BA in June, so I'm continuing on a MA in Digital Design in September.
And I've developed a sweet spot for Elliott Smith, which is just excellent.

Hmm.. Certainly works better than the anti-harmony of that other sift. I still feel as though it's lacking the more significant (and better) bits of the Daft song. Merely putting the "lyrical instruments" from one song into another doesn't automatically make that second song better. I just feel it was an unfair balance of the two pieces. Better than the weirdly-sounding sift, though, certainly.

Not a fan of Nirvana, so this is a vast improvement. The tonality is a little off in places, but then Nirvana was never known for harmony. It is interesting to see how well they fit together, though.

We all have our guilty pleasures. As much as I swore I'd never be "that guy", I find myself at the Wavehouse every Sunday listening to electro-house. I used to be hardcore about the music I thought was good, and the stuff I thought was crappy/trendy/trivial, of which much of the music I like now fits. Over the years though, I've found it's better to just go with the music, than to fight it. Take a chance on somebody else's taste in music. Try to view it as they view it. Hell, if you hadn't done that in the first place, you would've never developed the unique taste you have for music today.

I'll ask a few friends here if they know of anything good, but I don't trust most people's musical tastes since I generally look for something beyond just "catchy" and/or "can play in tune" when I'm looking for music.

I'm actually in Berkeley for the next several months, and I'd like to find some good local bands other than the scant few I know of in the bay area, any leads?

I live in San Diego, they're a San Diego band...gotta support the local scene. Plus they're so skillful and unique, it's hard not to fall for them.

Oh, you like Pinback? They're pretty good. I don't listen to them frequently, but every now and then I'm in the mood for their stuff.

The album that Passion Pit song is on is pretty tight, it has some cool hooks and I dig the 80s-esque electronic stuff going on. Just fixed the embed for the reach up to the universe video.
