There are so many things wrong with it. But one I heard from a professor in university is that pressure and emphasis on standardized testing meant that school have had to lessen other activities to allow students more time to student for tests, and one thing getting cut is physical education because it requires resource cost... so kids in America are left fatter!
Base 8? Thats so stupid! Only useful if you are working with half hexidecimal strings in Assembly... Whats the benefit of working in anything other then the base we can relate to?

Farhad: Am astonished I was never ever taught this in any level of academia...
My girlfriend is tutoring at an elementary school, and she tried telling me about this stuff which neither one of us have ever heard of. I think it's pretty new, along with math in bases other than 10, which I've noticed at the school I work at. Math is crazy these days!
