Woman Livestreams Cops Kill Boyfriend | Facebook Deletes It

There has been yet another shooting of a black man by a police officer, this time in Falcon Heights in Minnesota. Philando Castile was shot to death by police, and his girlfriend, Diamond “Lavish” Reynolds, caught the aftermath of the shooting on video from the driver’s seat.

In the video, Reynolds explains that she was pulled over for a broken tail-light at the corner of Larpenteur Avenue and Fry Street, at which point she claims that “police shot him for no apparent reason, no reason at all.”

Reynolds says that her boyfriend told the officer upfront that he was carrying a gun, which Reynolds claims in the video he had a permit to carry, but Castile explained that he would be reaching slowly for his wallet and identification. The officer apparently told Castile not to move at that point.

“As he was putting his hands back up, the officer shot him in the arm four or five times,” Reynolds says.

The officer sounds extremely agitated in the video, yelling “F***!” and then “I told him not to reach for it. I told him to keep his hand out,” to which Reynolds responds that the officer told him to get his ID. Although the officer’s face isn’t visible, his torso and arms can be seen, with his gun still trained on Castile when the video begins.

Blood can be seen soaking the man’s shirt as he lies in his seat. During the video, Castile appears disoriented and quickly becomes non-responsive, slumping over in his seat.

Reynolds can be heard saying “Please don’t tell me he’s dead. Please don’t tell me my boyfriend just went like that.”

Reynolds eventually leaves the vehicle, at which point the video continues running but is pointed at the sky for a period of time. Reynolds 4-year-old daughter, who was in the backseat during the incident, can be briefly seen and heard.

The video was uploaded to Reynolds’ Facebook page but was deleted by Facebook administrators, according to Shaun King of the New York Daily News. However, multiple people re-uploaded the video to YouTube and other social media sites, and it can be seen below.

Friends on the scene confirmed that Castile worked at the J.J. Hill Montessori School in St. Paul as a cafeteria supervisor, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Clarence Castile, Castile’s uncle, confirmed that he passed away at Hennepin County Medical Center at 9:37 p.m., only minutes after being admitted.

Although Reynolds claims in the video that the officer is a member of the Roseville Police Department, St. Anthony Police’s interim chief, Sgt. Jon Mangseth, confirmed with the Minneapolis Star-Tribune that the officers involved were with the St. Anthony Police Department. The officer who shot Castile was a five-year veteran with the force.
