U.S. military and Australian govt racism in WWII

It was not only the U.S. military who treated African American soldiers badly in WWII. Australian Prime Minister Curtin showed the same disregard for human rights and dignity, by initially refusing entry of black soldiers onto Australian soil, stating that it went against the immigration policy of the time, the "White Australia Policy".

Thanks, Glu. In my home town of Brisbane, which is divided by the Brisbane River, only white soldiers were allowed to go to the north side of the city, which included the CBD, Parliament House and other important buildings, Cloudland(the main dance and music hall of the time)and the main shopping districts.

It's just one of many shameful racist acts made by us. I still think Australia is largely a racist country, even with our cultural diversity.

My neighbour recently admitted to me, that when we first moved in, she was a bit worried about our colouring, that we might be Aboriginal. Nice, huh!
