redthingTransamerica didn't have any trans people involved in making it (and it shows) and by many it's not considered to be either a realistic or positive representation of trans women.

berticusi didn't realise movies had a responsibility to be either realistic or positive, but i take your point.
redthingIt's not about responsibility - I'd also question the validity of a film that was about being left handed but had been written, produced, directed and acted entirely by right handed people - but then I suppose if mainly right handed people watched that film then the stereotypes that would inevitably be presented would go unquestioned and be believed to be true to life and a fair representation of left handed peoples lives.
berticusi actually agree with you, but while transamerica may not be accurate or fair, i still think it's a good movie.
