Tinariwen - Amassakoul from Live 8 Eden Africa Calling

The great Mali desert band Tinariwen was one of the highlights of Live 8, the African concert hosted by Peter Gabriel and WOMAD. A major influence on Robert Plant's recent music.

I recently got a chance to see Tinariwen perform here in Los Angeles. The played at the outdoor stage near MOCA, and they were pretty damn fantastic.

I love all things Ali Farka, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulai and obviously not the same style or location, but Ali Akbar Khan & Nikhil Banerjee are all gorgeous. Perfect for those wake and bake mornings, sipping coffee and walking around the house on hardwood floors in your socks.
