"When the Stooges are hired to play a huge theater organ as accompaniment to a black and white silent movie, they really bring the house down.
The cartoon segments featured live-action wrap-around segments by the Three Stooges. A total of 40 three-minute, live-action color wraparounds were produced, directed by Edward Bernds, a friend of the Stooges; supporting actors from the old two-reel movie shorts, Emil Sitka and Harold Brauer, and Margaret Brown (wife of Cambria Productions' chief, Dick Brown) joined the boys in these wraparound scenes.
Plans to animate such other comedians as the Marx Brothers and Jack E. Leonard were shelved.
The release date for all 156 cartoons is considered fall 1965, as that is the delivery date by syndicators to the stations. According to an advance trade ad by Heritage Productions, the series was sold to 37 major markets in 30 days." [YT}
