The Flashing Lips of the Flame Scallop

"This video presented by the Enoshima Aquarium shows the bioluminescent mantle of a flame scallop (Ctenoides ales, a.k.a. noble file clam or electric eye scallop), a bivalve mollusk found around reefs in shallow tropical waters. The purpose of the flashing lips remains a mystery."

Not being a biologist, I feel free to say that this creature's strange magnificence is purpose enough to flash like fire in the seas. For me, at any rate.

Well one would think its like some deep see level creatures that glow a light in front of there mouths to attract prey, but pretty damn cool at any rate.
