dw1117says...This guy has had an incredible life. His songs have been covered by bands like Nirvana and his artwork has been in high demand for years. To say the least this guy is a living legend in Austin and thats just a few reasons why they made a documentary about him. Here is his wiki article.
dw1117says...*discard
siftbotsays...Self-discarding this video (discard called by original submitter dw1117)
maudlinsays...*save because the music is brilliant and this sounds like an awesome film.
If you're distracted by Johnston's limited voice, check out the tribute CD "The Late Great Daniel Johnston: Discovered Covered (Disc 1 : The Covers)". The whole CD (as well as almost everything Johnston put out) is available at eMusic. There are some lovely songs on it: Guster's cover of "The Sun Shines Down on Me" sounds like a lost Beatles track.
siftbotsays...Saving this video from queue deletion, sending it to the top of the queue for one more try. Originally submitted on Saturday 27th January 2007 (save called by gold star member maudlin)
Kruposays...I just noticed you must've raised the queue escape level to 11, eh?
Kruposays...Hmm, this just escaped queue with 10 - guess I was mistaken!
choggiesays...A similar story of an Austin native musician, is that of Roki Erikson, of 13th Floor Elevators fame......eccentric, brilliant, institutionalized
