Excellent movie, though like many of the Bounty retellings gives Bligh a much harsher edge that was probably historically accurate. I highly recommend reading some of the modern histories that put the mutiny in perspective.
The reality is that Bligh was underfunded in his expedition and did not have the usual police force on board to keep things in order. By the standards of the day, Bligh's attitude and discipline was actually lenient. Still, it is clear that things did get out of control, though the reasons for it are subject to interpretation of the facts.
Most of the horror stories can be traced back to the families of the mutineers who launched a PR campaign after Bligh's return in order to try to get their fugitive relatives sympathy in the hopes they would be allowed to return to England.
All this said, it is an excellent movie with a seriously amazing cast. The one part of the story which is indisputably amazing is the amazing voyage of the castaway officers and seamen as they tried to make their way to friendly port after being set adrift from the Bounty with hardly any provisions, maps, or supplies. Highly recommend it.

shuacsays...Liam Neeson to Captain Bligh:
"I have a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. But if you don't crawl out of all our asses, I will kill you."
