siftbotsays...Adding video to channels (Cinema) - requested by Hybrid.
Hybridsays...There's a very cool micro site for the Tron Soundtrack here. Great looping audio from the soundtrack on there too.
bamdrewsays...what an interesting turn of fate that the big draw to a Disney film is DAFT PUNK
dystopianfuturetodaysays...That's a lot of fanfare for such an unremarkable piece of music.
robvsays...disagree. tingly.
Nebosukesays...Wheeeeee, new Daft Punk music!

Let me guess, you think dubstep is the height of music.
Maurusays...I too think daft punk was somewhat more likeable when they did their own videoclips :- P
volumptuoussays...snore.
Mekanikalsays...I like Daft Punk. I like Tron. I hope I like the movie.
dystopianfuturetodaysays...Height of music? I dunno... Bach? Stravinsky? Coltrane? The Beatles? Morricone? Certainly not Daft Punk. They are overrated to begin with -more notable for the videos they inspire than the music itself- but now that they have a job scoring a blockbuster movie, they seem to have abandoned whatever originality they once had in favor of creating extremely generic sounding Hollywood film music. No personality. It could have been written by anyone. Boring.
They should have gone with someone unambiguously badass, like Richard D. James of Aphex Twin, or Squarepusher. Hell, you could just license stuff from their back catalogs and it would be infinitely better than this dreck, and probably less expensive.

Exactly what I was thinking. Daft Punk has certainly had some catchy tracks over the years, but wow is this one boring. I haven't heard any of the rest of this supposed soundtrack, but if this is any indication...meh.
I've always wondered how a soundtrack from Ronald Jenkees would sound...especially if he could move a little away from the synth sounds he seems to favor. Most of his music would really overpower any scene, and soundtracks take a little more thought on how to finesse the music into people's ears along with what's on screen.
Draxsays...I see this more as the scoring of a promo (it's only 1:43 after all) as opposed to a more indpendent music track, and in that context it's fine. I kind of enjoyed it too.
And yes, I could name off a bunch of electronic artists as well.. what if Plaid or Amont Tobin got their hands on scoring the film? Hmm.. would VNV Nation be up to the task? Screw it.. go with Curly M.C. and let Enigma score it.
Daft Punk is a good pick, they have a thing for using very old samples in their music.. and this movie hails from a very retro-film. ...did you notice the piece from the original score resampled into this music?
