No knee jerk response here - the 90 minutes seemed to be related to the amount of time between the sun activity and the funny looking clouds appearing, which would mean they are unrelated.

Coincidence. It is true that solar energy (e.g. solar flairs) are much slower than the speed of light, so the argument there, is over. BUT, the thought that a solar eruption of that size would cause an earthquake is hard to buy. The energies are not very related. There is a REMOTE possibility that it was the "straw that broke the camel's back" but that is seriously remote. They should be more concerned with their electronic infrastructure than their tectonic plates. Solar flairs are far more dangerous to your computer than to your ground.

I see 'sun dogs' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parhelion) a lot here in northern Indiana... lotta flat ground, corn & soybean fields 'round here. A guy who walks around thinking and looking up a lot can catch sight of a thing or two.

The Tunguska incident was a meteor, not Tesla's alleged "death ray". It's scientifically absurd. Whatever pulse supposedly sent by Tesla would have had to travel through thousands of miles of rock, dissipating most of its energy and spreading out, before getting anywhere near Tunguska.

Tesla made some important inventions when he was younger, but spent his later life playing around with variations on Van de Graaf generators and making wildly exaggerated claims about their destructive potential, which were overhyped by the press.
