gluoniumsays...INSTAUPVOTE of science! this an exceptionally good find.
Deanosays...Very eloquent and interesting chap - in a few sentences he made me think about what causes the earth to have north and south poles. I wonder if this is still on? I might go down and take a look.
UmberGryphonsays...I have several rattleback tops, but mine don't have turtles on top--they're molded plastic with the chiral properties built-in. They happily spin clockwise, but if you try to spin them counter-clockwise, they rattle and reverse themselves.
bhyphenlowsays...I had a rattleback growing up-- I was told is was an Aboriginal (is that a word?) toy.
choggiesays...The earth carried through the solar system on the backs of turtles mythos in toy form??? What will happen to turtles when the poleshift occurs???
therealblankmansays...A few years back I had a Qualcomm cell-phone that did exactly the same thing... spun smoothly in one direction and rattled and reversed itself if you spun it in the other.
