Fedquipsays...http://action.freepress.net/campaign/ownership
there is a fox news clip in this mashup where the anchor says "by the year 2050 humans will fall in love with robots" ... I thought, there is no way they actually reported this, this must have just been a cleverly editing trick done by the activists who made this clip.
a google search later

Arsenault185says...Up vote only because I've seen this crap on the news first hand. You'll notice none of the networks were CNN... hmmm So at least one of them haven't gone to the dark side.
On the other hand, you could make a video like this showing only in depth coverage on news that DOES matter and spin it the other way. Documentaries are notorious for this: String clips together out of context and it becomes something.
Farhad2000says...*sigh* Where the fuck are we going?
rossprudensays...It's a principle of the universe that with more bandwidth, you're going to get a lot more junk along with the good stuff. But I'm giving an upvote to this because TV (entertainment along with news) has gotten SOOOO bad in America that I actually stopped subscribing to cable altogether. And I'm *in* the entertainment industry. Ouch.
QuadraPixelsays...It's shit like this that the only TV is watch is on the Sift and Comedy Central.
Rugilsays...If it's so bad, why does it prosper? Ignorance for the ignorant. Don't see the problem. There is real information available albeit not as conveniently for those who want it.

I hate to break it to you arsenault185 but CNN is owned by Time Warner, was bought from Ted Turner in the 90's when Clinton signed the last big consolidation bill though he still works there, and yes, they were included and deservedly so. The same Time Warner that has been pushing the music industry into its current State, the same Time Warner that owns Road Runner cable among others and has been trying to consolidate the internet under corporate control, and the same one that showcases such O'Reilly wannabes such as Beck.
It's actually one of the more aggressive corps at trying to push their own agenda at the public expense, I wouldn't put it more than a hair above News Corp myself and not a lot more reliable.
You can get a list of Time Warner holdings as well as most other major media conglomerates in the drop-down menu at the following URL. http://www.cjr.org/resources/
doremifasays...I'm an angry white guy and I watch News Hour on PBS.
choggiesays...A really good way to subvert the beast, is to use their subtle tactics.....have some stickers made, with some succinct anti-media slogans, anti-fucking television slogans, and whenever you get a chance, stick em in places everywhere folks who feed on it will see.....fast-food restaurant drive-thru windows and doors, WALMARTS.....Retail outlets....how about all the new televisions at a Best Buy or Circuit Citty....KILL YERS AND OTHERS TELEVISION
ShakaUVMsays...I think the myth being promoted here (with the brain saying "Journalism" being taken out and "Infotainment" being put in) is that things were better in the "good old days", you know, like when quality newspapermen like Hearst were around, starting wars with Spain. Or during Revolutionary War days, when newspapers were printing vitriolic poems about Hamilton's kinky sex life.
Guess what? The media has always been a mix of news, scandal, and "infotainment".
quantumushroomsays...Most of the "corporate media" overwhelmingly employ liberals and 90% of the dreck is liberally-biased.
So: why the whining?
"Activists" have to protest something, even themselves.
Imagoaminsays...Looking at some other Quantum comments about this subject.. It really looks like he is either Mark Levine himself or completely taking Mark Levine's words and putting then in his mouth... And if you think that guy's got the truth, I feel very...very sorry for you for being so easily mislead.
Doc_Msays...It ain't easy to fill 24 freaking hours of news on 4+ networks with... news. People wanna hear stupid gossip about Paris Hilton. If there's one thing I respect talk radio hosts for, it's there willingness to say "I'm talking about this for ratings, but I really hate this pointless crap!" I've heard that at least 5 times this month alone.
Also, tabloid-style news is nothing new. Entertainment news has been around since long before I was born. Can someone tell me when the news was not "half about news and half about gossip?" Maybe back in the day when you had to walk-to-school-up-hill-both-ways-in-10-feet-of-snow-with-only-potato-skins-to-warm-your-hands-but
-those-were-your-lunch-so-you-got-frostbite-every-day-on-your-way-home-to-your-wood-burning
-stove-warmed-cabin-made-of-last-year's-half-burned-stove-logs?
The major news media have become capitalist giants. As much as you may dislike them, do you really want the government to manage the media, even if it means breaking them up? Isn't that government controlling media? Just a thought.
Also, remember, your beloved Oberman is one of "them" ... mwahahahahaa.
(this post is half serious, but half a jab, so don't get your
pantiesnon-gender-specific-undergarments in a bunch)btw, I haven't had cable for 3 years now... and I think I'm happier for it. Yay internet, netflix, and radio.
9058says...I work in the industry as well and i havent had cable in years. I try to avoid TV work at all costs since i cant stand to watch it
