I agree that it is not very clear wether this is indeed a joint or not. The photographer who sold this footage to collector Keya Morgan for $275,000 however claimed there was marihuana involved in this shot. Guess Marilyn smoking a cigarette would have only earned him 275$...

First, how is it obvious that this isn't a joint? Did you use CSI skills to enhance this grainy footage?

Let's say it was weed. Would she have been experienced enough as a toker to know that you don't immediately exhale? Perhaps not. This was a get-together, as the original holder of the footage stated, along with that he had bought the pot for this get together. Now, do people get together do communally share a cigarette? I'd say this was weed, indeed, or if it wasn't a joint in the footage, it was the cigarette after one. Look at those jovial, mirthful faces!
