Sleeper Hit - Hey There Delilah by Plain White T's

Lead singer Tom Higgenson of Plain White T's met a beautiful girl some years back. He was awed by her and to try to impress her he soon told her he wrote a song for her, but in reality he hadn't. She asked so many times he finally threw this song "Hey There, Delilah" together and played it for her. She loved it... Unfortunately, her boyfriend at the time didn't. Tom never had his beloved Delilah, but the song persists. Being in a rock band, he put it at the end of an indy album as sort of a filler. After their hit "Hate is a Strong Word, but I Really Really Really Don't Like You," this older song started skyrocketing in popularity. Their latest album was re-released with Delilah added and now it is near the top of the charts across the country.

As radio shows commonly do, The Kevin and Bean Show on KROQ in Los Angeles created a lengthy parody of the song titled "Hey There, Vagina." It instantly became their most requested song. After a day or so, the station's lawyers on their own (not under orders of the FCC nor in response to listener complaints) decided the song was indecent. Read more at TMZ. In response to this action, the radio show made another, presumably much more decent parody titled "Hey There, How Are Ya?" which preaches about the virtue of abstinence, milk, books, and eating your vegetables, but ends with a twist.

Both of these parodies are available for MP3 download at the following address: http://www.freetobe-la.com
