Sinking of the "Ocean Ranger" oil rig

Then the largest oil rig in the world, the Ocean Ranger sank on 15 February 1982 in a freak winter storm with waves as tall as five-story buildings. None of her 84 crew survived.

TV news shows sure seem to have deteriorated in the last few decades. Today this report would be one minute long and be narrated by that gravely-voiced guy you hear in action movie trailers.
