FirstWeFeast: In the first season of
Hot Ones, our fearless host Sean Evans proved that he is, in his own words, “a beast when it comes to wings.” While making short work of challengers like Tony Yayo and DJ Khaled, he took down some of most ferocious hot sauces on the market, from Blair’s Death Sauce to Mad Dog 357.
But why stop there? In order to train for season two (coming next week!) and ensure that his undefeated streak continues, Sean agreed to meet up with one of the true legends of the Scoville-chasing universe, Chili Klaus, for a challenge that makes his usual lineup of wings look like child’s play.
Chili Klaus is the host of Denmark’s answer to Hot Ones, and his popular YouTube channel features videos where his eats ghost peppers with politicians, or feeds them to members of the Danish National Chamber Orchestra while they play. He met Sean at Jimmy’s No. 43 in the East Village—ground zero for the hot-sauce and craft-beer communities in NYC—to face a lineup of chilies from the craziest chili farmer in America: “Smokin’ Ed” Currie of PuckerButt Pepper Company in Fort Mill, SC.
Smokin’ Ed’s Carolina Reaper isn’t just the hottest chili varietal in the world, but a souped-up, mad-scientist version of the hottest chili in the world.
Watch the video above to see Sean and Klaus meet their maker.
