that moderator is an incredible douchebag. shut up already, you're not interesting or insightful and no one came there that night to hear you blather on and TAKE SIDES in the debate. Hint: you're a MODERATOR, get a dictionary.

Great sift, thanks for sharing. I'm actually quite a fan of both these guys, and I spent nearly the whole time agreeing with both of them. Ultimately however, I think Chris is trying to misconstrue Sam's argument as being one that supports the war in Iraq, and I simply don't think that is the case. On the issue of torture, I agree with Chris and the moderator.

The moderator does make a good point in that the Muslim faith has existed for a long time, but it is only now that we have a heel to their throat (economically and politically) that these extremist and violent acts are being committed in the name of Islam. I think that Sam initially avoided answering this, but eventually comes to the correct conclusion that while these factors are variables that influence Muslim extremists, their religious beliefs cannot be overlooked.

Overall I like Sam's take on it all, that discussion on the negative aspects of the faith should not be politely swept under the rug, this may not be something that we can just afford to be politically correct about.
