From wiki: The Ludlow massacre pertains to the violent deaths of 45 people (32 of them women and children), during an attack by the Colorado National Guard on a tent colony of 1,200 striking coal miners and their families at Ludlow, Colorado in the U.S. on April 20, 1914. These deaths occurred after a day-long fight between strikers and the Guard. Two women, twelve children, six miners and union officials and one National Guardsman were killed. In response, the miners armed themselves and attacked dozens of mines, destroying property and engaging in several skirmishes with the Colorado National Guard.
This was the bloodiest event in the 14-month 1913-1914 southern Colorado Coal Strike. The strike was organized by the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) against coal mining companies in Colorado. The three biggest mining companies were the Rockefeller family-owned Colorado Fuel & Iron Company (CF&I), the Rocky Mountain Fuel Company (RMF), and the Victor-American Fuel Company (VAF). Ludlow, located 12 miles (19 km) northwest of Trinidad, Colorado, is now a ghost town. The massacre site is owned by the UMWA, which erected a granite monument, in memory of the striking miners and their families who died that day.

uhohzombiessays...Makes you wonder what else they conveniently leave out of our history education as we grow up.
JAPRsays...Every nation conveniently ignores the darker parts of their own history.
lesserfoolsays...Yes JAPR, but the United States of America is the greatest nation that has ever existed or ever will exist. That's how we know that stories like these are just liberal propaganda.
Kruposays...This really does explain why when I was in a Colorado church one of the prayer intentions was to pray against "class warfare". Wow.
Trancecoachsays...Just waiting for the online universities to start teaching students what really happened in history, rather than what the institutions print in the textbooks.
AGBH7says...Hi ,
My name is Alexis and I'm in 8th grade. In my school district, all honors kids are required to do a Social Studies called NHD. NHD is a nationwide competition that kids compete in! The topic is Rights ad Responsibilities in History! My topic is: How rights and responsibilities were violated in Colorado Coal Strike of 1913 and the Ludlow Massacre! In this video you have really nice footage that would go great in my documentary! I was wondering if I would be able to use some of it for my video(like footage)? I would give you total credit in my bibliography page!
Please reply ASAP,
Thanks:)
