Red Panda (aka 'ringtail') as a pet in Japan?

Red pandas don't get much bigger than house cats, and apparently you can keep them as pets in Japan. Even if they're cute, is this a good idea, especially since they're considered endangered? Is there a zoologist in the house?

Also, red panda being an endangered species, they wouldn't be used as pets in Japan. This looks like some sort of reality show, the woman is most likely a veterinarian or something.
