pipp3355says...looks interesting
dgandhisays...This movie is amazing, it's very complex, and does not hold your hand.
No big budget studio could have made this any better ,and they would not have touched it to begin with, to smart for broad market appeal.
Half the rottentomatoes reviews seem to contain the word "inpenetrable".
best movie of the decade in my opinion, at least for people who like to think hard about interesting things.
With this for just $7K up front it made a +5700% profit in theaters.
codenazisays...This is easily one of the best movies I've ever seen. You'll need to brush up on your quantum physics to really understand it... specifically pair production and virtual particles.
Also, beyond the amazing feat of doing it all for $7k, he apparently shot only 80min of footage (the movie is 78min long!).
The website has an interesting forum for after you've seen it, with lots of discussion and interpretation, which produced this massive spoiler which makes a great reference card for later viewings. It's a detailed study of one of the better interpretations of the movie. Do watch the movie first, though, as the spoiler really gives a lot away.
EMPIREsays...I have this on DVD. It's an amazing movie, and I think that what I like the most about it is a)the photography (it's quite good), and b) it's SCIENCE fiction. It feels like a believable scientific story.
LePierresays...*Spoilers Maybe*
I didn't love this movie although I admired the ambition.
I didn't think the direction does us any favours. The whole last act is dizzying in it's telling, piling on too much too fast.
And for a movie that had the grit of film-school realism, I found major believability issues with the acting and actions of the protagonists. Why after making a momentous discovery such as time travel, would you decide to waste that power and cheat on the stock market and try to punch your boss? That didn't make an entertaining watch for me. The science and speculation on the other hand, did.
Wolandsays...One of the best movies ever! The first time you watch it you think nothing happened...then POW!, you start to get it. By the third time you watch it, you'll be a part of the Primer cult. If you're like me and my geek friends, you'll spend weeks discussing this movie. If you like movies like Memento, you'll love Primer.
