Ordering Gelato in Florence, Italy

Gelato has real fruit, may or may not have milk. You pay first, by the number of scoops. Avoid the touristy areas. You can combine flavors.

Gelato has real fruit, no milk.

Normally gelato does have milk - and I don't think it's a mark of quality (or something) for a gelato to have none; it's just an option. Normally gelato places will have milk and non-milk items, with the non-milk ones usually called sorbets (or whatever the equivalent Italian word is). Even with the woman in this video, I think her implication is just that some of her flavors have no milk.

Thylansays...

A few years ago in Florence I had something that I thought was a form of ice cream/sorbet but must have been this. It was outstandingly good. It was listed in the guidebook as the best in Florence, and the place was down a series of side alleys. Once found, it had huge queues and was clearly very popular. The chocolate was divine and the Mango very refreshing.
