And here the NHL was worried about the epidemic of throat slashing in the League, when the real issue was cheek stashing ...

Even though Avery doesn't have many fans in the NHL front office, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman was at Nassau Coliseum to witness the lewd gesture and Wisniewski has a suspension history. (UPDATE: Bettman said he didn't see it, but that it'll be an issue for NHL hockey ops.)

"No NHL player has ever been suspended for type of obscene gesture Wisniewski used on Avery today, but one suspects that is about to change."

Absolutely. This incident will not blow over. It's something the NHL needs to get a grip on before it explodes.
