dystopianfuturetodaysays...Massiaen was an interesting dude. He wrote one of his most famous pieces while in a Nazi concentration camp. (Quartet for the End of Time - which is beautiful and haunting) He also loved birdsong. He recorded and transcribed birdsong as a hobby and then incorporated them into pieces like the one posted above.
