Last ten minutes of hurdy-gurdy player Matthias Loibner playing a tiny concert in St. Chartier (France) 2003. He also has a looper pedal. At about 3:50, when he intends to repeat a sequence, he'll record it with the pedal; then he'll stop a moment, regather his timing and then start cranking out another sequence. This way it sounds like he's playing 2 or 3 instruments at once. The is probably the finest example of the range of the hurdy gurdy I've ever seen/heard.
If you don't want to listen to the whole thing and would prefer highlights, I suggest:
1:10-1:35, where he sounds like a violinist soloing
3:50-5:20, where he sounds like an entire string quartet
9:20-9:46, where he does the equivalent of shredding on guitar

siftbotsays...Moving this video to E_Nygma's personal queue. It failed to receive enough votes to get sifted up to the front page within 2 days.

gwiz665says...I have never seen that instrument before, but I have heard it so many times. This is freaking brilliant.
furrycloudsays...That was incredibly bizarre.
8727says...reminds me of jimi hendrix at woodstock.
