Life Inside Iran's Jewish Community

The Islamic Republic of Iran is home to the largest Jewish community in the Middle East, outside of Israel. In this episode of Dateline, reporter Bronwyn Adcock investigates Iran's Jewish community - including a visit to an Iranian synagogue and an interview with Iran's only Jewish member of parliament.

I stumbled upon Iran's Jewish community quite by chance last time I was in the country. I was at a shop in Isfahan which makes the famous blue tiles used in Iranian mosques. The owner of the shop left me alone to look around his shop while he went to see a neighbour. I wandered into the back of the shop and found myself in a room decorated with pink tiles covered in Hebrew verses from the Torah - it was a synagogue which was used by the Jewish artisans of Isfahan.
