Leonard Susskind studies theoretical physics, particularly the field of string theory and quantum field theory, and he is widely recognized as one of the fathers of the String Theory model of particle physics. His current research includes models of internal structure of hadrons, quark confinement, instantons, and quantum cosmology. He has won both the Pregel Award from the New York Academy of Science and the J.J. Sakurai Prize in theoretical particle physics. In addition to his scientific research, Prof. Susskind has written two books for broader audiences: The Cosmic Landscape: String Theory and The Illusion of Intelligent Design and An Introduction to Black Holes, Information and The String Theory Revolution : The Holographic Universe.
