siftbotsays...Tags for this video have been changed from 'all along the watchtower, battlestar galactica, starbuck, piano, final five' to 'battlestar galactica, starbuck, piano, final five, bear mccreary' - edited by EDD
EDDsays...I've been saying this for years now, Bear McCreary is a frakking genius. Can't wait till I own season 4 soundtrack, completing the collection.
Oh, I get the chills at 3:15. A very very nice sift mint
*edit* I think this guy's version is more accurate compared to the show, but that's just nitpicking.

boooooooo
Xaxsays...It's actually not "All Along the Watchtower," but McCreary's original piece ("Heeding the Call") that preceded "All Along the Watchtower" in season 4, episode 10. Bear mentions in his blog that the plan was to initially use "All Along the Watchtower" in this episode ("Someone to Watch Over Me"), however the melody was too simple, so Bear chose this song instead, "pretending" that it was "All Along the Watchtower" (which is the song that awoke the Galactica final four; they actually wouldn't have recognized this song).
Yay run-on-sentences and quotes and confusion!

Blech... after listening to those, I much prefer McCreary's version.
dystopianfuturetodaysays...This is modal, but it's dorian, not phrygian. Hate to demystify this, but it's just a combination of the oft-used chord progression from Jimi Hendrix's Along the Watchtower with some noodling in a pentatonic gamalon scale (1,3,4,5,7). McCreary does a nice job with this show, but most of the iconic themes (The main title, the tribal drumming, the pulsing synth cylon theme, etc.) were actually created by composer Richard Gibbs in the mini-series. Bear mainly added the ethnic Irish, (LOTR/Titanic sounding stuff )and middle eastern (Hanz Zimmery dudek and vocal stuff) stuff, as well as riffing off the miniseries material.
dystopianfuturetodaysays...^I said dorian but meant aeolian. I sorry.
