Incredible guitar solo by Deep Purple's Steve Morse

Steve Morse founded the Dixie Dregs in the mid-1970s. He is a classically trained musician and is now fronting one of the greatest rock bands of all time.

Though I am not sure I would label him as "best guitarist" as suggested by the tags, he is extremely talented. He was invited to play among some of the world's greatest guitarists on Steve Vai's Christmas album "Merry Axemas". His rendition of "Joy to the World" sits comfortably with offerings from the likes of Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Joe Satriani, Jeff Beck and Alex Lifeson.

Thanks for posting.

As you know, there is no "best guitarist." Each of the guitarists you mention are extremely talented and unique in their own way. Some have more stylistic versatility than others and some are 'interpreters' while others have more ability with composition. One of my most memorable music experiences was hearing Morse, fresh out of the Univ. of Miami's School of Music, doing an extended improvisational solo in the lounge at at ski resort! The rest of the band, (Dixie Dregs), came and sat at our table and listened to his solo with the same degree of awe.

Thanks for your comments, much appreciated.
