If fallen soldiers came back to life and voted...

6 1/2 minutes from "Homecoming", a great satire that originally aired as part of Showtime's "Masters of Horror" series, and is now out on DVD. Any resemblence to Jerry Falwell and Ann Coulter is completely intentional.

Swampgirl, what is truly "disrespectful and shameful" to our soldiers, is failing to provide them with adequate protective gear, shipping their bodies home in unmarked trucks, censoring the photography of their flag-draped caskets and memorial services, cutting the benefits of those who survive their ordeal, and having a president who won't even attend any of their funerals. Oh yeah, and going on public school property to enlist them. Oh and also lying to them about why they are fighting. To name a few.

broruss, I appreciate your giving me an actual reason why you disagree w/ me. Like I said before, unfortunately I couldn't hear the audio of the video, I'm very pro-military. I believe our fighting men should have every protection, benefit and respect that they deserve. What I found offensive..and I'm rarely offended by anything I see on this site, is seeing dead American soldiers portrayed as zombies for some sketch to make a point while we have real men and women dying in a war. It's insensitive. It's easy for us to sit at home in our chairs and make comments on things we're not putting our lives on the line for, but we should have respect for those who do.

in a vain effort to defuse an argument over, IMHO, nothing: youtube occasionally "bugs up" and won't play audio here.

If you have that problem, click on the video itself; it'll open a new window at youtube; 99% of the time audio works. Give it a shot.

I was originally not going to vote for this video, as it *did* seem creepy and weird, but do check it out - it's makes a v. good point; I think when you hear the audio you will believe it does in fact jive with your POV.

The only 'ugly zombies' on there are the political operatives; I've said enough; check it out with audio and see for yourself.

Taken at face value, it is liberal propoganda. However, I could see any group dependant on public opinion doing a similar turnabout, and using ideas supposedly sacred to thier own ends. While the idea of undead soldiers is indeed offensive, it is more offensive that spin such as in the film happens in real life.

1. The movie's a political satire, it isn't meant to be taken seriously. For whatever reason, the right doesn't usually "get" irony or satire, so I'm not surprised at their reaction.
2. The right has absolutely no claim on the military, despite suckering most of them into voting for them. They send them into unnecessary conflicts, killing or at least maiming them for life (physically and/or mentally), then cut their benefits when they get home. But then, if the right actually voted for their own self-interest instead of what their corporate leaders tell them is "good for the country", they wouldn't be Republicans.

I'm against the war- but then again I'm against all war. But it doesn't mean I wouldn't fight for my country. The war in IRAQ is just a modern day Vietnam. No reason to be there - don't know what to do now that we are there, and the general populace hates us even more for 'liberating' them. We could've just gone in there and smoked Hussein - but instead we send our troops over to die for a non-cause.

I know a few vets that are seeing that they are being neglected and forgotten for doing their duty. Benefits cut, services available in fewer areas around the US, and a generaly apathy toward veterans who are injured. The veterans of recent wars are forgotten while the young keep dying.

I love my country - but not the actions my country has taken. Gotta love freedom.
