How to Use Ingress

While I wait for an Ingress invite, I tried to figure out how to play. I found this video to be one of the better explanations.

As best as I understand it, Ingress is a geo location, augmented reality game from Google. Players of two factions, the Enlightenment and the Resistance fight to control Portals and collect the resources to do as such. Portals are typically at statues, works of art and other interesting areas and public locations. The idea is to get people out and explore their area, sort of like Geocaching and WhereIGo and other GPS based games, though tossing in a good bit of social networking and gaming to make it interesting than just a Check In via FourSquare. I'm sure it helps Google's location data as well...

I got interested in it the other day when looking at some of the XKCD strips I missed and saw one about Location and being confused followed it with an explanation of the strip. The trailer for the game was already Sifted.
