But Mostly I play video games, and train martial arts wise. Or take photos, thanks for the 8 gig memory cards.

BY the way, you know what I use my flat screen for if I had one? A computer Monitor.

I just watch it to know what our evil overlords are telling people to think.

The overriding message?

Nothing is wrong, your problems are your own fault, women must be beautiful to be worth listening to, happiness is just one more purchase away, speaking your mind is dangerous, you can't trust your neighbor, but you can trust us.

There are more, but those are so repeated that even kids shows include them.

I think that this explains the rightward political tilt of the young people in this country. I've noticed that, since about 1990, most television news and even entertainment shows started espousing subtle rightwing propaganda. I remember seeing a PBS show that talked about "worker greed" and, of course, Rush Limbaugh had a television show back then.

Since kid watch about, I'd say, eight hours of television a day, it's pretty easy to see how they would be indoctrinated.

In all honesty, Al Gore has a wonderful treatment of the effect of television on the mind and brain in his book, "Assault on Reason." He also gets into how these neurological effects of television and other media are influencing the American democratic process.
