CaptainPlanet420says...And therrrrrrrrre we find the problem with the atheists' scientific religion. "Well, Johnny and Bobby and Susie corrected my homework, it must be right now!"
Argsays...^No, he didn't say peer review proves things are right. He said, it shows them to be less likely to be wrong.
12997says...scientific religion, CaptainPlanet420? What a strange concept, what are you on about?
HadouKen24says...The peer review process isn't quite as reliable as these guys make it out to be, but it is pretty solid.
There are plenty of critiques one could make of the scientific process. Philosophers of science are constantly looking at ways in which the scientific process does and does not meet the expectations people put on it.
The caller, of course, is almost completely wrong.
gwiz665says...The scientific process and peer review are extremely solid, because science is very competitive. If Scientist A has just tried to publish a theory A, then Scientist B will do everything he can to find errors in theory A, so that he can get his Theory B through instead. If there are no holes in the theory, it cannot be discredited and it has passed peer review.
