Hound Dog - "Big Mama" Thornton w. Buddy Guy 1965

Willie Mae “Big Mama” Thornton was born in Montgomery, Alabama one of seven children. Her father was a minister and her mother sang in the church. It was the church's early musical influences that helped her to win first place in an amateur singing contest where she was heard by Atlanta's Sammy Greene. After hearing her sing Greene invited Willie Mae to join his “Hot Harlem Revue” and at the tender age of fourteen she left home and began her musical career.

Elvis stole all the good songs before writing the few that he did that are cool.....He had to get real hot to be real cool, that meant getting back to the roots of the people that created his little hip-shakin' gig.....Black folks!

...for anyone who would rather read or hear the term "African-American", have yer heads checked, or move the f..k to Africa! (where the black folks there will laugh at you!)
