Great sift!
I wonder why he's holding the violin that way? Maybe it's easier to hit more strings at the same time with the bow that way? The sound would also be different when you don't have the gravity to help you press the bow against the strings.

^I think it's because he's a cellist, so he's more used to orient himself with the instrument that way.
