Free Jazz for kids: World Saxophone Quartet

I come back to this clip time after time. On October 5 2006 the legendary World Saxophone Quartet, led by Hamiett Bluiett, played at Lovejoy School in Illinois, where Bluiett had attended six decades ago. The audience, consisting of children of all ages, teachers and teen moms with their babies in tow, were delivered this powerful 4-piece concert. Some are understandably skeptical to this foreign and unforgiving music, but most of them warm to it as it goes along. The last piece is my favourite, with James Carter's tour de force of circular breathing culminating in a funny exchange where he responds to the shouts and shrieks of the kids.
