Ferrari F430 Scuderia vs. Ducati Desmosedici.

There have been Bike vs. Car battles before, but this is one of the better ones. A Ferrari F430 Scuderia track-day car against the most exotic hyper-bike available on the road today. Epic.

Just stupid. Is a simple matter of physics - a car has more grip, end of story. The only thing keeping you from going faster around a turn is lack of grip. It's 4 wide tires vs 2 slim tires that only have an edge touching, never mind wings and under-carriage aero. If this guy can't get a Ferrari to corner faster than a bike, he needs more skill is all. This video should be called, "Ferrari driving skill vs Ducati skill"

Hmm. Though we have seen many of these, it was still interesting, mostly because of the replica ducati. but what i didn't like is the fact that they both were on the track at the same time, it influences their driving (securitywise for example). And as always IMHO it very much depends on the track that you're on. The more acceleration parts you have, the better for the bike.

Skeevesays...

I was surprised they had a second person (presumably the cameraman) in the car. Having 2 people in the car effectively neutralizes the Scuderia's lower weight than the standard F430.

It's a nice car, but the host's ending point stands. A motorcycle's power to weight ratio is such that a car can't effectively compete with a bike when it comes to pure acceleration. That means, even if a car handles a corner better, the bike regains its lost speed significantly faster. Any track that favors acceleration is going to be dominated by a bike.

I've raced with Neevsey and he's no slouch! There are few cars that are a match for sports bikes, the only place the car will win is on braking as there is more contact patch. The motorcycle makes up for this on outright acceleration.
